Disk Not Visible in Active Backup for Business After Switching Boot Mode to USB (Acer TravelMate P21

Member Posts: 2 New User

Hello,

I am facing an issue with accessing the hard drive on my Acer TravelMate P215-54 laptop. I wanted to restore a previous system version made with Synology Active Backup for Business, but after changing the boot mode to USB, the disk is not visible within the application.

I have the latest BIOS version installed. Has anyone encountered a similar issue? Does anyone know which BIOS settings might affect the visibility of the disk during the system restore process from USB?

Thank you for your help!

Best regards,

There are two possibilities to get past that. Does the application support loading drivers when it boots up? If so you only need to tell it to load the IRST drivers, and provide it with those, downloaded from Acer's support site. Once they are loaded all drives should show up. If for some reason they don't support loading drivers, you will have to go into the BIOS and disable the VMD functions, but only long enough to do the restore, then re-enable them so the system will boot correctly in the normal environment.
