Why does fan speed not adjust when on 'auto' while temp is raising?

Hello,

I got a predator helios 18 and i noticed that i can only rely on using the manual fan speed and then keeping it on max even it this is not needed all the time and it makes noise.

There is a function where you can put the fan speed on auto for CPU and GPU. For some some reason this function does not work properly. The fan speed remains low while CPU is heating into 90% +. It should go max speed. I dont hear the laptop regulating this.

Also when laptop is on idle it seems that fan speed is shutting down completely. So laptop not doing anything but its still on. So of course it will heat when laptop is still on and fan is not working.

What is the problem with this 'auto' function?

Unfortunately Acers predator sense software is....cr@p compared to the competitors like Asus and Lenovo. You can't create custom fan profiles whereby you determine how fast the fans spin at certain temperature points. That plus the fact they locked out undervolting means all we get is a hot oven or a noisy slightly less hot oven

Try to update the BIOS for the new fan curve.

Navigate to Fan Settings: In the BIOS, navigate to the “Advanced” or “Hardware Monitor” section using your arrow keys. Different Acer models have different BIOS interfaces, so the exact name may vary. Adjust Fan Speed: Look for options such as “Fan Control,” “Thermal Management,” or something similar.
