How can I run my E5 575 without battery, using only the power adapter?

Many years ago my laptop battery pretty much died. Despite charging it, battery life has been reduced to a few minutes at best. Since then I’ve kept the battery in place, using the adapter plugged in at all times for power.

Yesterday my computer shut down unexpectedly. When I try to boot it with the battery still inside and the adapter connected I get the five LED flashes, but nothing more

Taking out the battery, leaving the adapter connected will not even make the LED flash. Nothing happens at all.

I’ve also tried to keep the safety interlock switch pressed down with the help of a tiny bit of plastic taped to the thing that keeps the switch down, but still nothing.

I’m all out of ideas at this point, and would appreciate your advice.

Thanks in advance!

You need a new battery for your Aspire E5-575 laptop first, the sign of your laptop not functioning with the adapter and a dead battery is not a good sign, as you might have fried the voltage regulator in the laptops main power rail.

Buy a new copy battery from eBay (as they are cheap) and insert that battery and try to boot the laptop, if it doesn’t boot, then you need to take your laptop to a technician as you have a main power rail fault or this laptops EC is shorted that can be replaced and reprogrammed, but if the Chipset chip is shorted, that is a much harder chip to buy as it also needs programing but allot of technicians can do this job, otherwise you need a new mainboard which you will need to look on the board what Acer type board it is, as a replacement guide. Good luck and hope this helps you out.
