Hi guys, I have been using a predator Helios neo16 for more than a year now. And the old SSD died on me recently. Got a new one, wd black sn770, installed it on the laptop. Bios is able to detect it but when I am trying to boot windows 11 using a bootable usb drive. My ssd is not showing up. I have tried to acces diskpart using cmd. SSD is not in the list of disks. My bootable usb drive is in disk 0 but can't detect SSD at all. I have tried to turn off secure boot uefi. Is there something I need to do on a new SSD to initialize or something. Can anyone help me with this one? Much appreciated.

Did you do a clean install of Win-11 24H2 and all its updates, as that is what you need to do with a new M.2 boot drive and a damaged old drive that you can’t clone. take the old M.2 SSD drive out and insert the new WD SN770 Black Gen 4 x4 drive in the SSD1 boot slot of your PHN16-xx laptop.

Construct a Win-11 bootable USB with Rufus 4.5 and follow their guide, you will also need to download the Win-11 24H2 version .ISO to put on that USB and also the IRST (Intel® Rapid Storage Technology) Driver for whatever exact PHN16-xx model laptop that you have from the Acer support page.

Then reboot the laptop with the inserted bootable USB in its port, the screen will have instructions to boot into the USB Win-11 installation, after and when you are in the Win-11 installation and you reach “Where do you want to install Windows? > Load driver > install the Intel IRST driver so that the windows install recognizes the WD SN770 M.2 drive and you can continue the installation, finish the installation, and then do all the update so that your OS is at OS build: 26100.3194 which is the last build. Good luck and hope this helps you out.

Win-11 section where you need to install the Intel IRST for your PHN16-xx laptop
