I have had this Chromebook since 2022 and my warranty expired in 2023. I never had any problems with my laptop before until today. When I closed my laptop, the hinge on the left side made a loud pop sound and now when I try to open or close it like I normally would it tries to take the frame near the screen off. How should I go about fixing this or would it be better to take it to the repair shop?

Hi, you can't fix this yourself, either contact an Acer endorsed PC repair shop or take the CB to Acer Services in your country. Replacing the hinge assembly is a labor-intensive and therefore costly job (estimated at $200+), the panel needs to be removed and if the motherboard is cracked, too. Makeshift, patching or gluing won't last a day, consider auctioning off the CB on e-Bay and buy a new one.

You need to undo the laptop and loosen the hinge as its gotten too tight and it will break either the LCD upper cover or the lower case so be careful. Undo the bottom lid and get access to the hinge and loosen its screw at the joint.

See if either the upper case or the lower case screws have broken away from its hinge points, if they did use hot glue to glue the screws into the broken hinge points back and reassemble the laptop, as this should fix that hinge problem. Good luck.
