I have a 3 month old aspire go 15 which is now completely useless as the cursor has disappeared. I searched for the solution on here and found suggestions to try FN key + F6, F7 etc., I tried all the F keys both with and without the FN key, nothing worked. I saw a post which said that all you had to do was press F10, this simply turned the touchpad on or off, no cursor appeared. On start up there is no cursor and somehow after tapping things randomly the log in box sometimes appears, then I can log in, that doesn't always happen. When I can log in I'm still no better off as I mentioned I've tried all and every combination of keys with no success. Surely my 3-month-old laptop can't really be utterly useless? I can't afford to waste money like that. Your help would be greatly appreciated.

To check your touchpad in Device Manager, press Win + X and select Device Manager from the menu, or press Win + R, type devmgmt.msc, and press Enter. In Device Manager, expand the Mice and other pointing devices category to find your touchpad, which might be listed as Touchpad, Synaptics, ELAN, or similar. Right-click on the touchpad entry and select Properties to check the Device status under the General tab, ensuring it says, "This device is working properly." If needed, go to the Driver tab to update the driver or enable the device if it's disabled. This process helps verify and troubleshoot touchpad issues effectively.

To uninstall and reinstall the touchpad drivers, in Device Manager, expand the Mice and other pointing devices. Right-click on the touchpad entry and select Uninstall device, checking the box to delete the driver software if available, then click Uninstall. Restart your computer to complete the uninstallation process. Upon restarting, Windows should automatically detect the touchpad and reinstall the default driver. If it doesn't, go back to Device Manager, right-click on Mice and other pointing devices, and select Scan for hardware changes.

If the default driver doesn't work properly, visit the Acer Support Drivers and Manuals page to download and install the latest touchpad driver for your model. This process should help resolve any driver-related issues with your touchpad.

Connect an external mouse to see if the cursor appears. If it does, there might be an issue with the touchpad itself. Next, go to the Acer support website, find your model, and download the latest touchpad drivers. If the issue started after a Windows update, you can try restoring your system to a previous state. Restart your laptop and Sometimes pressing the Ctrl key, Alt key, or Shift key can bring the cursor back.
