The XC-710 only supports SATA drives in the M.2 slot, not NVMe, although in looking at the block diagram they have the PCIe signals to potentially support an NMVe x2 drive. Are you trying to put your drive in the right M.2 slot? It will not fit into the slot designed for the WLAN card. You want #9, not #14:

Thanks for reply, The standard ATX PSU 500W looks good for power, but i have a feeling it is the processor or motherboard that's dead. I bought a cheap pc. ACER XC-710 i3-6100 @ 3.7GHz 8GB RAM 1TB HDD WINDOWS 10. And it arrives tomorrow. Can i try the processor from my broken pc in the new one to see if it still works? (I know nothing about chips and where they can be used) also can i try my memory. ( 8 gig 1Rx8. Pc4) in new pc to see if that works. - without getting the blue screen of death! Oh how i wish i was a PC Expert!!! If i keep buying parts to see whats broken i would be as well as buying a new descent PC?? Thanks. 👍

Yes, swap or eliminate part of your ram. Maybe just clean the contacts and reseat the ram modules ?

I'm doubtful that much or anything will swap with your new buy. Just reseat the ram or switch them around to eliminate a bad one.

I get no beeps. I have tried the ram and cleaned under the fan on the processor. Like i said it aint worth buying all the parts to see whats died as the pc aint worth that much cash now. If i cant figure it out i will probs buy a new one in a few months. The pc just for browsing and printing - nothing heavy like gaming. I will put the ssd into the new one and hope its not that that caused the problems on the broken pc. Its just frustrating when it could just be a small fixable thing thats an easy fix! 😖😖😖

I did try a monitor but nothing on screen! I suppose i could put it into a repair shop and get a price to fix it. It would be a free estimate and if the price to much then onto the next! 😭

Remove power and all cables from the desktop, and press and hold the power button for 30 seconds. This works in a lots of cases.

If that doesn't work then remove the Backup battery and hit the reset button.

Last choice is to remove the battery and AC power and let sit overnight.

Yeh i think it is one of them. I will leave it for the time being and see what the pc arriving tomorrow is like. Perhaps one day i will look at it again when its not 'doing my head in'. 😖. Thanks for the posts and if i get it fixed i will post what the problem was. Thanks. 🖖

Am back with one question? I got that pc ACER XC-710 i3-6100 @ 3.7GHz 8GB RAM 1TB HDD WINDOWS 10. Delivered today and tried to put in my ssd stick PNY. Ssd CS2140 M.2 Gen4 1Tb. Into the slot but it dont fit. 😣. Can anyone recomend a cheap ssd stick drive like the pny one that will fit. Dont want to spend to much as its just a cheap pc that i wont be using for that long. Using a hdd drive is like going back to the stoneage!!!! 😁. 256gb would be the smallest i would want. Thanks. 👍

I have a better plan than buying a Ssd. The pc has usb3 and i have a fast usb drive. I will clone the hdd drive to the usb with diskgenius and make it bootable. Then i will run windows of that drive! Cheap and cheerful. 😁. On my pc that broke i had made the same usb for that and it worked perfect!!! Thanks for the replys. 👍

Yeh Its slot no.9 on the motherboard i was trying to fit the ssd. On the ssd slot the notch to fit the ssd in on opposite side from my broken pc slot - so basically i had to turn over the ssd for it to slot in. Its like it should go in as the notch on card is in right place and if fitted the fitting screw lines up. Perhaps the slot is just tight? I didn't want to force it like a big old caveman would and have no pc again! 😬. I read this comment on redit. "they can be flipped either way so long as the keying for the m.2 slot lines up". I think i will try again 😣😣😣. Thanks for reply. 👍

😬😬😬 got the ssd seated in drive but the pc wouldn't even turn on! I thought it was a gonner, but thankfully it started fine. Back to the plan with usb3. I will probs buy a sata drive as they cheap and faster than hdd. Dodged a bullet there me thinks! 👍

How much are you saving by the time that you buy hard drives etc to buy a ready to go WIn11 unit ???
