I am using Aspire 3 A314-35. When I turn on the power, the power light flashes 5 times and it cannot start, although the battery is still above 80%. But when I plug in the charger, I can turn on the power as normal. Please help me, thanks.

Hi, a more than 3-year-old battery having less than 20% wear is not very realistic, unless the battery was replaced recently, 50-60% wear is the correct number. There is a small pinhole in the back of your laptop (with a battery sign), stick a pin in that hole till you feel it click (micro switch), keep pressing the pin for a few seconds. This will reset the battery. Update BIOS with version 1.53 dated 2024/10/25 and uninstall these two battery drivers:

Just reboot and charge the battery to 100%, paste this in the command prompt: powercfg /batteryreport and open the report with your Edge browser, right click and select "Print to Microsoft PDF", attach the report to your reply, type @Purawor use "Quote" when you reply so I will get an alert.

Start by pressing and holding the battery pin (usually located on the underside of the laptop) for about 30 seconds, then release it. Afterward, press the power button for another 30 seconds and see if the laptop boots up. Next, ensure that the charger and power cable are working properly. You can try using a different charger or power outlet to see if that makes a difference. Another step you can try updating the BIOS. Then reconnect the power and try turning it on again. Lastly, connect an external monitor to your laptop to see if the display is the issue.

Blink codes are often used by laptops to indicate specific hardware problems during the Power-On Self-Test (POST) process. The number of blinks and their pattern can provide a clue to what might be causing the issue.

In this case, 5 blinks could potentially be related to issues with the laptop's motherboard, memory (RAM), or the CMOS battery. Here's what you can try:

Reseating RAM: Sometimes, the RAM modules might not be properly seated. Try opening up your laptop (if you're comfortable doing so) and reseating the RAM modules in their slots. Make sure the laptop is disconnected from power and the battery is removed before attempting this.

Check for Loose Connections: Ensure all internal connections, including hard drive cables, display cables, and other connections, are secure. Battery and AC Adapter: Sometimes power-related issues can trigger blink codes. Try disconnecting the laptop from the power adapter, removing the battery, and then holding down the power button for around 20 seconds. Then reconnect the battery and power adapter and see if the issue persists. CMOS Battery: The CMOS battery provides power to the laptop's BIOS memory and helps maintain system settings. If it's failing, it could cause unusual behavior. Replacing the CMOS battery might solve the issue.

Hardware Diagnostics: Many HP laptops have built-in hardware diagnostics. You can access these by pressing specific key combinations during startup. Refer to your laptop's manual for the correct key combination. Running diagnostics might help pinpoint the exact hardware problem. I hope this helps.
