Hello,

I own a AN515-55-51QY

Only slot0 is filled with a drive. Does the laptop support (has space) a M.2 NVMe with a heatsink? If so, which PCIe Gen (I believe this applies to M.2 NVMe but I might be mistaken)?

Please let me know because I wouldn't want to buy, for 1, a ssd with a heatsink when there's no space and for 2, a recent generation which won't be taken full advantage of because the laptop has an earlier generation interface.

Thanks,

The AN515-55 laptops has a Storage 2: M.2 SSD 2280 (PCIe Gen3x4 / SATA SSD, which means it's a Co-lay type and it will not fit any of the Gen 3 x4 M.2 SSD drives with a heatsink, your laptop has a cheap metal plate used as a heatsink stuck on the back lid, as even if you remove this plate the oem M.2 SSDs with heatsinks won't fit, btw there are not many Gen 3 x4 drives with heatsinks anyway as most are Gen 4 x4 type drives.

What I did with my AN515-56 which is pretty much the same size and thickness as your AN515-55, is I used thermal pad material on top of the SSD drive as a heatsink, as that works very well also or you can buy a thin copper plate and put that on top of the M.2 SSD drive as that will also work very well. Good luck and hope this helps you out.

    Hi StevenGen,

Thanks a bunch for all the info.

I guess all that's left is to ask if the laptop supports a double-sided format.

    Does it?

    Thanks,

    Tarek

The AN515-55 works with both single and double sided M.2 SSD drives, use the Samsung 970 EVO Plus as a top end M.2 SSD as its one of the best, most reliable and bets supported M.2 SSDs on the market. Good luck
