Ok, so I go to 'My files', click the 3 dots, go to 'Services', click 'SMB Share', when I give it a target using EITHER of the Windows Computer Name and folder, OR the IP address and folder, I get a "Error mounting share, the specified share was not found on the network" message. I can PING the Chromebook from the Windows system, I can PING the Windows system from the Chromebook, they're in the same Subnet. The Windows Firewall is OPEN on all the well-known PORTS for the SMB Service, the "Server" Service is 'Started' in Windows. The Chromebook is totally up-to-date with the latest ChromeOS. When I first open the 'SMB Share Services', it does the quick automatic scan and doesn't see anything out on my network, anywhere. I can't think of anything else contributing to this problem. Anyone seen this little Merry Prank before?

Likely the login for the Chromebook isn't a valid user on the Windows machine. My guess is you will either have to open up the Windows share to anonymous users or add the Chromebook login as an allowed Windows user. You could also be having DNS issues, but usually using the IP address bypasses that. Is the Windows machine running Home, Pro or Enterprise?
