Predator po3 620 new 3200 ram running at 2133. Am I stuck with this faster ram running so slowly?

I searched for compatible ram online for my Predator po3 620 motherboard, and I bought ram based on it being compatible with this mobo. I bought "Corsair Vengeance LPX 32GB (2 X 16GB) DDR4 3200 (PC4-25600)" which was stated as compatible. I read the mobo can run up to 3200 as well. I took out 16g of ram running at 2666 since this was supposed to be an upgrade. I refreshed my old gaming PC to hold over for a couple years until I buy a new one. Am I stuck with this faster ram running so slowly?

HI, depending on the CPU, RAM will run at 2995MHz or 2666MHz, did you use the DIM 1 and 2 slots? Corsair is XMP memory and likely its base speed is 2133MHz, if the XMP module is not detected by BIOS RAM will revert to the base speed 2133MHz.

I am using slots 2 and 4. This particular ram came up as compatible when I searched. I didn't look just once and at only one site. This particular ram came recommended on a thread I read right here in this forum. CPU is intel i7 10700 H470 chipset. It should clock to at least 2933 at fastest, which I am okay with, and expected at least. I am a bit let down by the advice given on this forum. I may have just waster $100.

This is the compatible ram for the PO3-620 desktop and as you can see this desktop has a max capacity of 64GB total and a max memory speed of 2933MT/s NOT 3200MT/s.

You need to install ONLY DDR4-3200 • CL=22 • NON-ECC • UDIMM • 288-pin • 1.2V • 2Rx8/1Rx8 • PC4-25600 type ram and NOT an XMP overclocked ram as this desktop only operates on normal ram listed below. See Crucial ram for their PO3-620 ram upgrade also, as their ram works 100%.

You must have the wrong CL and type ram as that is the only reason why ram gets downclocked and doesn't operate at its specified speed. Good luck and hope this helps you out some more.

    PO3-620 ram specs and modules.

You need to populate DIMMS 1 to 4exactly like below

Likely you used one of the compatibility checkers, so they offered you "compatible" memory with the most expensive first. It is "compatible", since it runs, but far from optimal. That memory is XMP memory, with a base speed of 2133MHz and can only run at faster speeds when using XMP overclocking. To overclock it you need a system that first of all supported XMP, and secondly you need to have all memory in the system support the same XMP profile. The PO3-620 didn't support XMP out of the box, but they may have enabled it with a later BIOS update. Make sure you are on the current BIOS version, then look in there for eXtreme Memory Profile to see if you can turn it on. If not, send the memory back and buy true 3200 or 2933 memory. If it is supported, remove the original memory and put only the XMP in, then try turning on the overclocking function.
