My Predator Helios Neo PHN16-71-73LT operates fine while plugged in or unplugged. The battery life is good. But it won't boot unless plugged in.

When I press the ON/OFF button while off and unplugged, the amber battery indicator light blinks a few times, but nothing else happens. The issue only started this week after over a year. The machine wakes from Sleep fine.

There are several potential reasons why your Acer laptop won't boot unless it's plugged in, even though the battery seems to be working fine:

Try to reset the battery on your Acer laptop using the pinhole method, follow these steps:
Turn Off and Unplug: Make sure your laptop is turned off and unplugged from any power source. Find the battery reset pinhole on the bottom or side of your laptop. It is usually marked with a battery icon.Use a Paperclip: Straighten a paperclip or use a similar thin, sturdy object. Press the Reset Button: Gently insert the paperclip into the pinhole and press and hold the button inside for about 5-10 seconds. Wait and Restart: Wait for a few minutes, then plug in your laptop and try to power it on.

Battery Issues: The battery might be failing or not holding a charge properly, even if it appears to be fine. Over time, batteries can degrade and lose their ability to provide sufficient power to start the laptop.

Power Management Settings: Sometimes, power management settings in the BIOS or operating system can cause issues with booting on battery power. Resetting these settings to default might help.

Hardware Issues: There could be a problem with the internal power circuitry or connections within the laptop. This might require professional diagnosis and repair.

BIOS Settings: Incorrect BIOS settings can sometimes prevent the laptop from booting on battery power. Ensuring your BIOS is up to date and resetting it to default settings might resolve the issue.

Software Issues: Occasionally, software conflicts or corrupted system files can cause booting problems. Booting into Safe Mode or performing a system restore might help identify and fix these issues.

If these steps don't resolve the issue, it might be best to contact Acer support for further assistance. They can provide more specific troubleshooting steps or determine if there is a hardware issue that needs to be addressed.
