My Acer Nitro 5 (AN515-55-50BS) is not detecting the GPU. Does anybody know how to fix it?

Whenever I restart my laptop, the gpu stops working and won't work until i type the command "bcdedit /set pciexpress forcedisable" and restart, but that also isnt guaranteed to work. Does anybody know how to fix it? or should i get it repaired (if it is broken)

If the "bcdedit /set pciexpress forcedisable" command doesn't work to make your dedicated gpu to be detected, then your dedicated gpu's vram or the gpu chip is about to give up its functionality or its solder needs refloating.

if you are computer savvy, get a heat gun and refloat the gpu and its vram chips with the heat gun and see if that revives the gpu functionality, if it does, don't expect that to be a permanent fix, as it could be that your gpu and its vram are fried. Good luck and hope this is a solution for your problem, otherwise use the cpu graphics or change the Nitro laptops mainboard, if you need a reference for your Nitro laptops board, then tell us your Nitro exact model like AN515-xx.

Try the refloat of the gpu chip and vram, get a technician to do that if you can't do it yourself, as this method is very successful and gets these gpu's working and sometimes fixes these issues permanently. Otherwise a new board unfortunately Acer does not have any mainboard reference part numbers for the Niro AN515-55 so we cant give you any Aver part numbers for your board, what you will need to do, is open the back of the laptop and see what reference number is written on the mainboard inside your AN515-55 and buy the same one or an upgraded cpu and gpu board. good luck.

by "refloat" do you mean reflow?

Refloat means that you put the heat gun onto the gpu and allow it to unsolder the gpu solder balls off the mainboard same with the vram chips, you heat these chips up just enough so that the solder melts and then resolders back again to refreshed the contact to the mobo.

You can put a little bit of Amtec liquid flux onto the gpu and vram so that it resolders itself better and 100%. This is a specialist job and I would suggest that you get a technician that has soldering experience with a heat gun to do this for you, as you can damage the gpu easily and not solder it back properly or the vram and then they will not work, so be careful.

Check if the Graphic Card is disabled
In the Device Manager, go to Display Adapter and expand it. Check if your graphics card is listed. Right-click on the Graphics card and select Properties. Go to the Driver tab and check if the Enable button is available.
