SSD AN515-43 No detectable device. Are these SSDs not compatible, and if so, what is?

I have the AN515-43-ROYM and I have tried upgrading the SSD from the default SK Hynix 256 gb ssd to other 2 TB NVMe SSDs. I have tried the samsung 970 evo plus and now the crucial P3 PCle 3.0 M.2 and both now are not detectable by this device (i.e., no bootable device). They do not show up in the BIOS either. Are these SSDs not compatible, and if so, what is?

I have avoided using the SATA slot, only putting these SSDs in the PCle M2x2.5 ssd slot.
