Broken hinge on Laptop A515-45. Is the hinge replaceable by a laptop repair specialist?

I bought my laptop 4 years ago and the left hand hinge has broken, meaning that I cannot close the laptop. It is stuck in the permanently open position and now I can’t take it away from my office.

I have read online that this is a common fault. I know my laptop is out of warranty, but is the hinge replaceable by a laptop repair specialist?

The reason why hinges break is because the hinge becomes tighter as you open and close the laptop lid and the hinge securing screw points break. You have two choices to fix your Aspire A515-45 laptops hinge, so you can do either of the the following. Do not use epoxy or any other glue except hot glue as they don't work.

    1. Try to glue the hinge (can't guarantee how long it will last especially in hotter climates, as the hot glue tends to melt after a while). Also and before you attempt this gluing job, loosen the center hinge screws to make the hinge a bit loser. and not as tight, then undo the hinge where its broken from either its LCD Cover or the Lower Case and secure its screws to these cases as best as you can, then get a hot glue stick and melt it into a liquid form with a butane torch until the liquid hot glue drips and covers all the top of the hinge and its securing screws to glue the whole thing together and then clip it down with some securing clips and let the hot glue dry. This should secure the hinge to either the LCD Cover or Lower Case of your laptop wherever its broken away from and should give you a secure fix.
    2. The best solution is to buy a new either LCD Cover or Lower Case (whichever the hinge has broken away from) of your Aspire A515-45 laptop and change these cases so that the hinge has a perfect new case to be secured into 100% and securely. This will require for you to swap all the parts from either the LCD or Lower cases.

Loosen the hinge screw at the red marked area where its shown below so that its not tight

Aspire A515-45 LCD Cover and Lower Case part numbers toassit you to buy the appropriate cover or case.

Hi, read this new post: Aspire Vero AV15-52 : Is there a manufacturing fault with the LCD bezel coming away from the screen — Acer Community It is going to cost you more than a new budget laptop. Gluing or patching is not going to work longer than a day, the hinge assembly cost is insignificant when compared to the labor that will be involved, the screen and motherboard may also be cracked. Consider selling your old laptop and getting a new Windows11 laptop with DDR5 RAM and a fast Gen4 SSD on a New Year/promotion sale.
