Laptop stuck on "PC Automatic Repair" loop. Nitro AN17-41. How can I backup my files?

Hi Folks - I'm stuck on an issue with my laptop and hoping to find some help. I'm working with an Acer Nitro AN17-41. It was purchased in March and is still under warranty.

The laptop was working fine just an hour before. I shut down and moved it to my room (never dropped or anything). Then, I tried booting up and got the "PC Automatic Repair" screen. It processed a bit and then stated "Automatic Repair couldn't repair your PC".

I tried do restart it multiple times, held the power button for 90 seconds when restarting, even tried 'Startup Repair' and resetting Windows and it gave me "There was a problem resetting your PC. No changes were made."

I've created a support ask from Acer, but was looking for a way access my personal files so I could back them up before it got sent in for support. I suspect it will come back completely wiped.

Does anybody recommend a good process for this?

Hi, you need to break this Automatic Repair loop by interrupting the booting 3 times with pressing the power button each time 5 seconds. This will get the blue recover screen where you can select Startup settings 4 "Enable Safe Mode" In safe mode you can revert to an earlier system restore point or run MSconfig.exe to disable the non-Windows services click Apply and try to boot each time enabling a service.

To safely back up your files, you can create a bootable USB drive on another computer and use it to start your laptop and access your files. Restart your laptop in Safe Mode by holding Shift while clicking "Restart"; this should allow you to access your files and transfer them to an external device.

Sadly, this did not work for me. Won't let me access safe mode. Maybe I'm doing something wrong but I tired it multiple times. Appreciate the suggestion though.

Also didn't work for me. Would not read from the USB drive and allow me to boot from that. Appreciate the suggestion though, many thanks!

Hi, backup your data by taking out the boot drive and mounting the SSD in an external USB PCIe M.2 case (you can get at any PC shop) Plug it in the USB3.0 port of another Windows PC and copy your files (not the system files), you may have to give the external drive a letter D in Disk Management. You may have a hardware issue, reinstall the boot drive and take the laptop to Acer Services in your country, it should still be under warranty, or submit a "Repair under warranty" ticket online with Acer Support and wait for instructions by e-mail.
