Acer Nitro V is really loud and over heating

Hello, I recently bought the Acer Nitro V gaming laptop. Unfortunately, the ventilators are working so hard and it overheats so quickly I doubt it's a normal thing. And it's not like I'm trying to play something very demanding - I can open a new tab on the web, or play a simple game and the ventils are going like crazy.

Another issue I have is that the laptop goes into sleep mode whenever I put something on the edge. It could a top of the notebook that I don't have space for on my desk, or an Ipad. Not my hands tho. It quickly flashes a black screen followed by my lock screen. It's very inconvenient, because I often rest my tablet on the edge of the laptop for more comfortable learning, but the moment I move it a bit or I place it there it instantly flashes to the lock screen.

Does anyone know what could be wrong with my device and if I can fix it myself?

Thanks,
Parsley

You can check the temperature during gaming.

For the second issue, please do not put anything magnetic like phone, tablet, or headphones near the bottom right of the palm rest because it has a lid sensor beneath it.

High temperatures and overactive fans can be caused by multiple factors. Running too many background processes can elevate CPU temperature, so it’s a good idea to check Task Manager for unnecessary tasks and end them. Ensure your laptop is placed on a hard, flat surface to allow proper airflow, and consider using a cooling pad to further improve ventilation. Outdated drivers or BIOS can contribute to overheating, so updating them might help. Dust buildup can impede airflow, so gently clean the vents and, if comfortable, reapply thermal paste or have a professional do it.

For the sleep mode issue, your laptop going into sleep mode when placing something on the edges is likely due to a sensor issue. Some laptops have sensors near the edges that detect when the lid is closed, and if you place objects there, it might trick the laptop into thinking the lid is closed. Adjust your power settings to prevent the laptop from going to sleep when the lid is closed or when specific actions are triggered. If your objects have magnets (e.g., iPad cases), it could be interfering with the sensor. Ensure your drivers and BIOS are up to date.

    Thanks for the answer.

My laptop is brand new, so I don't think unclean vents could be the issue… I check the task manager a few times, and it wasn't showing any signs of too many processes - the processor use was only at 34% while the vents were being crazy loud. I only use it on my desk, so it's always on a hard flat surface…

Plus, like I mentioned, it could be a very easy task like opening a new tab or messenger and they would be so loud you could hear it from another room.

When I check the temperature it's never too high, but the vents are still very loud. And like I mentioned, it's not only an issue with opening demanding games - it could be even opening a new tab and they'd start making a lot of noise. It's basically never quiet, sounds like an 8 year old laptop.
