Why was I able to clean install Windows 11 on my Acer TC 780?

I purchased a new M.M.2 SSD (Crucial P310 500GB 2280 PCIe Gen4 3D NAND NVMe M.2 SSD)

Using the latest download of WINDOWS 11 ISO on Flash drive SETUP completed with all the updates. So far no problems….

I initially tried to clean install Linux Mint Cinnamon…it wouldn’t instalinstall…giving me an error message that the drive was full?

Rather than try to make another attempt to create a flash drive from ththe verified Mint ISO

I thought I would try to clean install Windows 11….

What made the difference?

Has Microsoft lowered the bar?

Anyone else tried this?

The drive had an existing Windows installation, using the whole drive and leaving nothing available for the Linux install. If trying for a dual boot you need to shrink the C: partition enough for there to be empty space for the Linux install. If going for Linux only you just remove all existing partitions and install Linux to the empty drive.
