Intel display adapter issue on Aspire TC-885. monitors not working after sleep mode

I mistakenly installed the intel display adapter on my aspire tc-885, windows 11, and it seemed to be working fine for a while. Yesterday I thought I could not exit sleep mode because there was nothing on either of my 2 monitors. Pulled CMOS battery and replaced with new one so wondering if that could have messed up something?

Interestingly though I found that if used my Remote Desktop it worked, I.e. the system was indeed awake, and I could get to device manager that way. Now however if I reboot the pc neither monitor works. Device manager shows one generic monitor, not two. Detect says cannot identify another monitor. Have uninstalled the monitor driver and intel adapter and all hidden devices. Monitors still don't display. Anyone had problems with the intel adapter and if so, how do you fix it?

Was thinking maybe should download most recent bios but don't know how you execute it once downloaded and if that is a good idea anyway.

    Hi @RebelBob ,

Boot into Safe Mode and uninstall the Intel display adapter via Device Manager. Then, download and install the correct drivers for your Aspire TC-885 from Acer’s support site. If issues persist, consider updating the BIOS carefully, as it may resolve compatibility problems.

The Acer suppprt list of drivers isn't clear to me as to which one is for the display adapter. On,y one I see listed that might be it is vga driver? Also don't know to boot into safe mode. Will that give me a display?

Yes, any time you do a CMOS reset, or a BIOS update, you should enter the BIOS in the reboot and do a reset to factory defaults (F9) followed by a save and exit (F10) to make sure the settings are back to normal. If you have customizations that you want, redo them after the reset…

You shouldn't need to reinstall the video drivers, if the OS has been reset and doesn't see them correctly, it will use the Basic VGA Adapter drivers and you will at least get video. The only other possibility I see is if you have a GPU card in the machine and are connecting the monitors to the onboard video. The onboard HDMI ports are disabled if there is a card in that slot.
