Acer Nitro 5 AN515-51-55WL.

The amber light immediately next to the charging port flashes when plugged in. I can’t find anything in the manual about it. What’s it mean?

    Hi, check if the adapter plug is fully inserted in the DC socket till you hear a click. This laptop is from 2017 if the battery has never been replaced in the 7 years the battery will be bad. I recommend replacing the battery: New Genuine Battery for Acer Nitro 5 AN515-51 AN515-52 AN515-53 Aspire A515-51 | eBay

    I replaced the battery early last year, so the battery is good.

    I’ve also had issues with the laptop really struggling to power on when plugged in. The keyboard will light up, the fan will start to spool, then it’ll just stop. Then the keyboard will light up again, the fan will spool up again, and then it will just stop again. Over and over. This will go on for a minute or two until it finally powers all the way on.

    I thought this was happening whether it was plugged in or not, but the last bunch of times I’ve powered on unplugged, it fires right up. Plugged it… I get that issue. I’ve read that could also be a sign of a bad power supply, so I was thinking the two issues could be related.

    @Mitragorz

    Try to do the power reset: turn off the laptop, unplug the charger, and hold the power button for 10 seconds.

    Does this happen when the laptop is turned on?

    Please remember to include @AnhEZ28 when you want to reply back to my comment so that I can check your response.
    Thank you and have a nice day!

    Hi, run a battery report to see if the battery is charging, that amber flashing battery LED is indicating low battery or a bad plug/power rail issue (DC socket, MOSFETs, etc.).

    I let the battery completely drain today and recharged it. While charging, the light is steady. It starts flashing when it reaches 98%, it doesn't seem to reach 100%. I'm not really bothered by that 2%.

    Correction: It DOES charge to 100%, and the light flashes when it reaches it. While charging, though, the light is steady.
