So, i updated my bios version to 1.18 and updated the microcode because of the 13th series intel voltage problem. I have to disable VTX in the BIOS because the microcode won't load if virtualization is on. The problem is that BIOS settings keeps resetting after a few days. Symphtoms are, computer won't start for a few minutes, laptop keyboard flashing a few times, and then the initial predator animation (i always keep off because of the loud sound) starts playing again. This means the bios reset. I have no idea how to fix it, i even set a password to enter bios but it did not help.

I recommend rolling back the microcode update, not BIOS as that is not possible: type Restore in Search and click on "Create a restore point" and then click on "System Restore" with a date from before you did the updating.

There is no microcode update from Acer specific for the PHN16-71 laptop, where did you get the update from? As that could be why you are having the delayed boot and you must have corrupted the bios of your PHN16-71 laptop and its causing those problems, as I've got the same laptop and nothing like that happens with my PHN16-71-50JG model, my laptop boots from a fresh restart in 28.2 seconds and its lighting fast.

My PHN16-71-50JG with the i5-13500HX/RTX4050 has got the same bios 1.18 installed (and no settings are changing with this bios, its using the NVidia gpu only) I've also done a clean install of Win-11 24H2 with all updates to OS build 26100.2605, as this laptop came oem from Acer with the Win-11 23H2 and I wanted a clean install of the OS and I've also updated this laptop to 64GB total ram from Crucial type CT2K32G48C40S5 @ 2x 32GB DDR5-4800MT/s and its boot drive to the 1Tb Samsung 990 Pro with Heatsink and I found that with the 64Gb ram the laptop and M.2 SSD boot drive run about 10C cooler and all works great and speed tests and games like F1 24, Assetto Corsa and Battlefield 5 all play perfectly and flawlessly with no overheating. I suggest that you roll back the OS like Puraw is suggesting above to a previous perfectly working version or do a clean install of Win-11 24H2 and start from scratch. Good luck and hope this helps you out.

so, from my understanding 0x12B microcode was released specifically to prevent issues with i9 series of 13th and 14th gen both K and HX to use too much voltage. It works flawlessly at doing so, and the core voltage stays under 1.38v (it reaches over 1.6v without) and prevent hardware degradation and the constant crashes (without error) i kept having because of it (i,ve had this laptop for barely 20 days).

Microcode simply does not work after the BIOS auto resets, because it enable again virtualization in the bios and stops the microcode to actually run until i deactivate virtualization (cpumcupdate64.sys won't load). I can roll back the microcode simply uninstalling it but i'll get again the constant crashes so it doesn't really make sense to do so to me.

I reverted the microcode to default (123) to see if that was the actual issue, but i'm keeping virtualization and other settings off in the bios to check if it keeps resetting anyway.. i'm afraid it to be an hardware issue and not a software one, but i've had this laptop for barely 20 days…

As i suspected, it happened again. It seems like if i keep the laptop off for like more than 12 hours bios will just reset every time. No matter what i do or what microcode version i'm on. Any ideas?

I'm still having this problem.. event viewer first error is 0xC0000411… second one is 0xC00000D4.. i thought it had something to do with fast boot which i ended up disabling… but it lasted 2 days..

My PHN16-71 has the CPU Microcode version 0x35 which is the latest, your version maybe that is why my i5-13500HX/RTX4050 and it doesn't have any bios changes and cpu problems in gaming as i game allot with this laptop and its running perfectly, make sure that you have the latest 1.18 bios version installed

Check your CPUz @ Mainboard > CPU Microcode as the below is from my PHN16-71

My laptop is the i9 13900hx + 4070m variant, unfortunately last BIOS version (1.18) has microcode 123, which does nothing to prevent the voltage issue. I still have not found a way to prevent BIOS to reset..

Then the bios version 1.18 must not change the CPU Microcode for your i9-13900HX/rTX4070 variant laptop model PHN16-71 which is strange. Anyway, the only other alternative is to take the risk and flash/upgrade the cpu microcode yourself from Intel and flash the microcode to version 0x35, which is a risk and I've got no idea how to do that or to give you a guide, I read something in the Microsoft Forum about this, so maybe go there and see any guides there.

But and if you attempt to do this flash, you do so at your own risk and I take no responsibility for suggesting it to you if you brick the cpu and you will need a new mobo. Good luck as it must be so frustrating to have this problem with such a high end laptop, as Acer and Intel should have solved this problem by now 100% with especially the 13th Gen i9-13900HX cpu, like they did with the 13th Gen i5-13500HX and the i7-13700HX cpu's as I'm having no problems.
