Hello,

I recently bought an Acer Aspire 5 15 (Model # A515-58PT-746F, S/N NXKVEAA001XXXXXXXXXXXX) and I'm trying to connect it to an LG portable monitor that has a USB C connection. According to a chat on the LG website (https://www.lg.com/us/laptops/lg-16mq70.adsu1-portable-laptop-monitor), "the 16” LG gram +view IPS Portable Monitor, Model # 16MQ70.ADSU1 is designed to be used only with a laptop. The device to be connected with the monitor must support DisplayPort Alternate Mode (DP Alt.
Mode), and power output (USB PD) at 7.5 W (5 V / 1.5 A) or higher..."

I have two questions:

  1. Does my laptop support DisplayPort Alternate Mode (DP Alt. Mode) and power output (USB PD) at 7.5 W (5 V / 1.5 A) or higher?
  2. If so, what cable should I get to connect my laptop to the portable display? The salesperson from where I bought the laptop said I needed this USB-C to HDMI cable (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0C38WDX79?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title&th=1), but the portable display doesn't work with it.

Thank you!

Hi, yes, the Acer Aspire 5 A515-58PT-746F does have a USB-C port that supports DisplayPort Alternate Mode (DP Alt Mode) for video output. This means you can connect an external monitor using a USB-C to DisplayPort cable.
