Two Acer XF273U W2BMIIPRX Monitors (One not displaying like the other)

I received two Acer XF273U W2BMIIPRX monitors for Christmas. I connected both monitors to my graphics card using DisplayPort 1.4 cables. The monitors have some differences. The "good" monitor's built-in menu is smaller, with slightly different options, and it shows "DP[1.4]" for the input. The "bad" monitor's built-in menu is larger; the colors for the monitor look faded/washed out, it has slightly different options, and it shows "DP" for the input without mentioning 1.4. I have already tested the same cable with both monitors and checked for graphics card updates, but the problem continues. I installed the Acer Display Widget, and while it recognizes both monitors if I click on the settings button, it shows the same serial number no matter which monitor I have selected (which is the "bad" monitor). Also, if I select the HDR profile in the Acer Display Widget for the "bad" monitor, nothing happens; there is no screen flickering to indicate I am making a change. However, if I do the same for the "good" monitor, it does flicker, letting me know that I am working with that monitor. Additionally, I can change the GAMMA and other settings in the Advanced Settings menu for the "good" monitor, but I cannot for the "bad". What could be causing this issue?

The MM.TXZAA.002 SKU is the newer one, with a 2023 ship date.

Also, when I view the monitors in the NVIDIA Control Panel under Display > Adjust desktop color settings. The "bad" monitor has a current color accuracy mode of Enhanced and the "good" monitor has a current color accuracy mode of Accurate. I have looked at OSD for each monitor, Windows Color management and see nothing to fix this!! Do I need to return this $400 monitor and get a new one?

Does the display difference follow the monitor when you change the port on the computer? We know the issue isn't the cable, but the port on your GPU might be sending a different signal…

Thank you for the quick response. I have noticed that the display issue remains the same regardless of which DisplayPort (DP) port I use on my graphics card. The problem persists even when I connect the "bad" monitor to the single HDMI port on the graphics card. Additionally, before trying different DP ports (there are three in total), I unplugged the DP cable from the "good" monitor and connected it directly to the "bad" monitor to see if the DP cable was bad. Unfortunately, the results were unchanged. I have attached some screenshots showing the color difference that I cannot seem to fix for the "bad" monitor. The screenshots show both monitors. I consider the "good" monitor to be the one on the left. It is the one that shows its input as DP[1.4]. Additionally, in the screenshots of the NVIDIA Control Panel. Monitor 1 of 2 is considered the "bad" monitor and you can see that its current color accuracy mode is set to Enhance whereas monitor 2 of 2 "good" is set to Accurate. That is the only difference between the two; I cannot change this. So, I feel like the "bad" monitor is defective and needs to be returned, but I would love to be able to fix this without going through that process.

Try looking at the on screen menu for each monitor to make sure they are set exactly the same before attempting to adjust anything in Windows. It's possible the two monitors are from different batches off the assembly lines, so there could be differences in components. You may have to just live with them being slightly different… :(

I appreciate your time and help with this issue. I had the same thought; even though they are the same model, they come from different batches. It's strange that the OSD menus are different. I'll go ahead and return this one and request a new monitor to see if I can get one that matches the "good" monitor. I suspect this might be a hardware issue. I even tried reinstalling Windows and removing the display drivers using the Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) tool from guru3d, but that didn't work.

I just discovered something interesting while looking up the serial numbers of both monitors I purchased. When I checked the product details on each monitor's webpage, I noticed that the specifications differ. One monitor lists DisplayPort Version 1.2, while the other lists DisplayPort Version 1.4. Additionally, under general information, the monitor that supports DP 1.4 is labeled as a "Gaming LED Monitor," whereas the one that supports DP 1.2 is simply labeled as an "LED Monitor."To complicate matters further, I examined the On-Screen Display (OSD) menu on each monitor. The monitor with the serial number MMTYZAA001XXXXX states that it supports DisplayPort 1.4; however, when I open the OSD menu, it only shows "Input: DP." On the other hand, the monitor with the serial number MMTXZAA002XXXX, which is supposed to support DisplayPort 1.2, shows "Input: DP[1.4]" in the OSD menu. This has left me quite confused. I’m unsure whether the product information on the official Acer website is incorrect or if the OSD menu is misleading. I ordered two monitors from the same link (https://www.bestbuy.com/site/acer-nitro-27-ips-led-240hz-0-5ms-freesync-gaming-monitor-displayport-hdmi-black/6558832.p?skuId=6558832), but I received two different models. It’s frustrating not to know which one I should return to Best Buy, as I want to avoid getting another monitor that only supports DP 1.2. Acer support chat agent says If the monitor with the serial number that supports 1.4 but only shows Input DP should be the one to keep and the monitor with serial number that supports 1.2 but shows Input DP[1.4] does not really support 1.4. Yes, you have two different SKUs there, the MM.TYZAA.001 and MM.TXZAA.002 The first one has a December 2022 ship date, the second an October 2023. The TYZAA vs TXZAA suggests they have different components installed, though both are XF273UW2 base models. I'm surprised they don't have different letters following the "W2".

Yeah, so strange. I am unsure which one to return since both have DP 1.4 support. The serial number indicating the monitor that supports DP 1.2 shows that the input is DP[1.4] in its OSD menu (per screenshot in an earlier comment above). Do you think I should return both and hope to receive two that supports DP 1.4? I wish I could tell which one supports DP 1.4 and I would just game on that monitor. I thought the one I have been referring to as "bad" was the one that needed to be replaced because it does not show DP[1.4] on its OSD menu, as it just says DP, but according to the serial number and the specs on Acer's website, it does support 1.4. I guess I need to live with what I have and hope I am gaming on the one that supports DP 1.4. Lol.

DP 1.2 is a subset of DP 1.4, so DP 1.4 has all the features of 1.2, and more besides. I'd keep the one rated for DP 1.4 (the newer one) and return the older model for a new model.

I appreciate your time and help. I 100% agree with you. I would love to do that, but it might require me to return both because I am unsure which one is right. Yes, I could go by the serial number and what Acer's website is telling me, but the OSD menu is throwing me off. For me, I want to know 100% that I am returning the monitor that is DP 1.2 and not the monitor that is DP 1.4.

Maybe it's a bug with the firmware for the DP 1.2 monitor. Both monitors are using a DP 1.4 cable. I want to know 100% that I am returning the monitor that is DP 1.2 and not the monitor that is DP 1.4. And the only thing I can go by is what the Acer website indicates. My mind just doesn't trust it. I will decide soon. I have until the 14th to try the exchange.

Thank you, Billsey. But, the newer (MM.TXZAA.002) one only supports DisplayPort 1.2?

It looks like this one MM.TYZAA.001 (ship date of 2022) shows only DP and not DP[1.4] in the OSD menu is the one I need to return. Even though the product information tab on Acer's website for this SKU shows it supports DisplayPort Version 1.4. So, it sounds like Acer went backward on technology for the one that was shipped in 2023.

Since the spec on that TXZAA has it able to run the 1440 at 240Hz, it has to be DP 1.4, 1.2 can't handle that bandwidth. I'm guessing there's a bug in the OSD if it's saying 1.2 only.
