I have faced some issues with the touchpad earlier, such as the media controls not working (specifically the next/previous and Fullscreen buttons). To address this, I updated the drivers available on Acer's website. However, guess what? It made things worse. The media controls still don't work, and, additionally, the touchpad as a whole stopped functioning.

I tried restarting multiple times, and eventually, it started working out of nowhere. That was a relief, but now, every time I restart my PC, it keeps updating the touchpad drivers (even now when I'm writing this). During this period, the touchpad doesn't work, but once the updates stop, it starts working again. This happens every single time I restart my PC, and it has become a nightmare.

Please help me resolve this issue.

this looks like a malware how can a official acer driver do this :(

this are the drivers I tried to install

What computer do you have? I am thinking it's not a Switch, since they stopped making new Switch models several years ago… Your full model number is usually on the same sticker as your serial number, it should look something like xxxxx-xxx-xxxx.

OK, there are three different touchpad modules on the SFG14-73T models. You should be able to tell which is on your system by looking at Device Manager. I think they only used two different chipsets though, so yours should either be a PixArt or Synaptics. Uninstall the failed installation of the wrong version that you tried to put in if possible, then remove and reinstall the correct version. Test again to see if that fixed it. Remember that a swipe over that "SWIFT" displayed on the bottom of the touchpad enables and disables it's extra functions…

Here is the touch pad as shown in your image:

And the details for that device will often give you the needed info:

So, in my case, it's an ELAN touchpad.

If your touchpad isn’t working, it may be a result of a missing or out-of-date driver. Updating or reinstalling your touchpad drivers in Device Manager may help solve the problem.

To open Device Manager, enter device manager in Search on the taskbar, then select Device Manager.

    Update touchpad drivers
    Open Device Manager.

To find touchpad devices, select Human Interface Devices or Mice and other pointing devices, then right-click the device you'd like to update.

    Select Update Driver.

    Reinstall touchpad drivers
    Open Device Manager.

Right-click the name of the device, then select Uninstall device.

Select Uninstall and then restart your PC.

Windows will attempt to reinstall the driver.
