Monitor has lighter/grainy images and graphics with lines

I am unsure when this issue began, but I have a dual monitor setup as I predominantly work from home. Images and colors appear lighter and grainier than on its identical counterpart. I have reset the monitor and sent it for repair; and the technician was unable to reproduce the issue. The resolution and frame rates are identical. Additionally, I experience the problem with different cables and computers. An attached image is showing the issue, though not as clearly as I would like. What could be causing this? Any assistance is appreciated.

  • HI @tjmarciniak are both monitors connected via HDMI or is it HDMI/DP or DP/DP?
What model of computer do you have and what is your graphics card?
The problem may be related to the graphics drivers, the screen resolution or the refresh rate.
What graphics drivers do you have installed, those from the computer or from the card manufacturer?
What resolution and refresh rate are you configured for?
    I await your response.

    Best regards.

    Thanks!…

Both have identical newer HDMI to HDMI cables to a Geekom IT112 I9 Mini PC with Intel Iris Xe Graphics (less than 6 months old) at 2560 x1440 x75hz. I've swapped cables and saw the same issue on only the left monitor.

I've also hooked it up to a laptop with other cables with exactly the same issue.

Excuse me, I understand that you have exchanged the HDMI cables and the problem with the left monitor is the same, but what if you change the HDMI port, the problem occurs on the right monitor?

And just as a test, does the problem go away if you lower the resolution and refresh rate?

    Regards.

Yes, to diagnose you need to prove to yourself just where the issue lies. It could be the GPU, the cables from the GPU to the monitors or the monitor itself. You have swapped cables, but not swapped GPU ports yet. If the bad display occurs with both ports on the computer and with both cables then we can assume it's something on the monitor itself, either a setting that's wrong or an issue with the monitor hardware. Do you see the same artifacts when you first turn the monitor on and it's displaying the splash screen as it boots?

I put it down to 1920x1080x60 with no change (although it is less pronounced). I should add that I bought another new Acer monitor to replace the left one when I sent it in. This new one works perfectly.

  • Thank you for mentioning this, I understand then that the monitor was broken, please comment on any news about it, thank you.

    Alejandro,

I would like to return it for repair again, but I am having difficulty explaining the problem to the technician to avoid receiving a response of "unable to reproduce the issue." Any Ideas? Thanks in Advance.

  • Send him the screenshot you posted and the explanations you gave here, I think that should be enough.
