Will Acer release a New Bios Update For 2023 Predator Helios 18 (PH18-71) to INTEL CPU issues?

Hello,

We are all keenly aware of Intel's issues, and despite their statements to the contrary, 13th and 14th gen mobile HX CPUs also seem to be affected. Same architecture after all.

It seems Acer agrees with that. I am about to reinstall Windows, and since my laptop's driver page seems abandoned, I am downloading applicable updated versions of drivers from the 2024 Predator's (PH18-72) page. Love the flagship treatment…

I noticed that the 2024 Predator received a BIOS update as recently as a month ago. One before that (from April) included updates for kernel and microcode.

Last BIOS update for my 2023 Predator was pushed out over a year ago, and none of them seem to address the microcode issue.

Are there any plans to update the BIOS for 2023 Predator to prevent the Intel CPU thermal degradation?

Also, are there any plans not to abandon a $2.5k+ flagship laptop support/driver page after a year and a half?

Thanks!

Do NOT use the PH18-72 bios for the PH18-71 that you have as it will brick your laptop! Note that Acer has done a few cpu Intel microcode issue fixes already on some laptops and desktops that needed them, with bios updates that are titled something like this, this sample is for the Predator PO5-655 desktop model bios version 1.05 titled "INTEL Microcode 0x12B update for the Intel 13th and 14th Generation CPU issue” so and if Acer didn’t release this sort of a bios update for your PH18-71 it doesn’t need it, so don't stress out😁.

I've just gotten an Acer Predator Helios PHN16-71 / 13th Gen i5-13500HX/RTX4050/16GB DDR5-4800MT/s and updated its bios to its last version 1.18 dated 24/09/20 which is a very recent bios release (and this laptop has no microcode bios version) and I've also updated the oem Acer supplied Win-11 23H2 OS version that this laptop came with, with a totally clean install of Win-11 24H2 and all its updates to OS build 26100.2605 and this laptops is performing absolutely great, no temps issues either.

What I’ve notice is that my PHN16-71 out of the box has a bit of lag out of the box which I haven't pinpointed exactly from where as I've only had this laptop for 1 week (which my previous 11th Gen I7-11370H didn’t have at all) but on the other hand and what I’m noticing also, is that the more I use this laptop and update its OS, the better it performs and it utilizes its specs fully like its cpu, gpu and ram, I don’t know if it’s the cpu. gpu, ram or its oem 512Gb SK Hynix – HFS512GEJ9X125N Gen 4 x4 M.2 SSD drive which Iis the problem but I'm waiting delivery of a 1TB Samsung 990 Pro NVMe that is the fastest M.2 gen 4 x4 drive, also I've changed the gpu in bios so that my PHN16-71 only used the NVidia RTX4050 gpu, so that could be an issue also. so I will try and narrow this lag down to something?

So that is about what I've experienced above as your PH18-71 laptop only difference is that your laptop has an LCD 18.0” screen but has the 13th Gen cpu's of either the i7-13700HX or an i9-13900HX / comes with a min spec RTX4060 to the highest spec RTX4080 gpu’s and runs with DDR5-5600MT/s, but and as far as the Intel microcode issue is concerned, they should have the same problems, which I’m not experiencing with my i5-13500HX cpu with normal and gaming usage. Good luck and hope this has helped you out some more.

This is what my Predator PHN16-71 laptop Predator Sense readings are at a room temp of 28C (83F) and at idle and after being used at normal tasks and web browsing and multitasking for 3 hours.
