Dell monitor "not found" when connected to Acer 9-IN-1 USB C Hub ODK390

I am trying to use an older Dell monitor with a VGA connection to my Acer 9-IN-1 USB C Hub model ODK390. The hub is connected to an Acer Aspire 5 A515-56. When I connect the monitor to the hub and turn it on, it always goes to power save mode in about three seconds. When I try to add a display to the Aspire 5 it is "not found". Everything else connected to the hub is working properly. The monitor works fine when it is connected to its original desktop computer. Would I be better off getting a VGA to HDMI adapter and using that connection instead?

Check the USB-C port on your A515-56 to see if it is a Thunderbolt or just a normal USB-C 3.2. If it has a lightning symbol, that port is a Thunderbolt 4 and supports display output. Otherwise, there is no display output for that port.

Thanks @AnhEZ28. I now understand why it does not work and will figure out an alternate solution.
