Acer Swift SF14-51-50P8 AI Evo lower CPU and GPU performance compared to reviews

Recently bought the Acer Swift AI EVO and the CPU and GPU performance is not aligning with reviews online. In Cinebench 2024 I’m getting a multicore score of 470-490 compared to people online who are receiving a score of 530. Furthermore, I’ve also seen reviewers review laptops from competing brand like asus with the same chip. However, they are pulling much higher performance than my Acer laptop. Additionally, in games like Fortnite and Overwatch 2, sometimes I load into the game and get decent frame rate and sometimes I get far lower frame rates than expected when loading in again. Worried it might be a BIOS issue. Is anyone else having the same issue?

What is the size of your RAM, the Acer Swift Go 14 AI (SFG14-01) has soldered RAM that can't be upgraded, if you bought a model with 8GB that will run slow. Uninstall all preinstalled programs, bloatware, 3rd-party browser/virus checkers and free trial versions, check in Task Manager- Processes how many apps are running at the background if more than 80 uninstall some programs you don't use including Startup apps. Keep the USB-C charger plugged-in and the battery fully charged to 100% at all times and set the Power mode to Best Performance (in Power & Battery).

I have the 16GB version. I don’t believe they sell an 8GB version with the new lunar lake chips. I also did a brand new installation of window 11 and I installed the enterprise IOT version which I heard has low CPU usage and bloatware. However, i am still getting these slow scores and performance issues. Are same chips just suppose to perform differently because they are from different vendors?.

It's always easier for us if you tell us the actual model number of your system. Your full model number is usually on the same sticker as your serial number, it should look something like xxxxx-xxx-xxxx. In your case there are a bunch of different models with the Acer Swift AI EVO designation, 14", 16", Intel based, AMD based, Swift, TravelMate, Aspire, etc… In this thread Puraw guessed you might have a Swift Go 14 model, but provided a model number that isn't actually valid (there are lots of different SFG14 models, but no -01), so any suggestions using that aren't likely to match your system

I’ve tried installing the Intel drivers that Acer provides on their page rather than the latest drivers from Intel as I heard that it may be more compatible with the laptop and boost performance. However, I saw a decline in performance instead.

Your Swift SF14-51-50P8 model does not come up on the Acer service guide lookup list that we have access to, so really we don’t know the exact specs that your laptop has, I know that it has a16GB LPDDR5X but that is about all, but be aware that with these Swift laptops its essential that you have them up to date with its OS and bios and firmware and run the quickest M.2 Gen 4 x4 drives for best performance. I’m using a Swift SFX14-51G that has an RTX3050Ti gpu and 16GB LPDDR5 and I’ve upgraded its booT gen 4 x4 drive to a WD 850X Black gaming to improve its performance, as Acer does not fit oem the quickest of Gen 4x4 drives, so be aware of that also.

You also need to make sure that you have update this laptop to the latest Win-11 24H2 version and all updates to OS build 26100.2605, check all the optional drive updates in windows update also so that the bios is up to date as then this laptop will perform to its best. I have the laptop listing linked up above. It is the store I bought the laptop from. I have updated all drivers and OS updates to the latest version. However, it seems like the cinebench performance is still behind laptops with the same exact CPU

Yes, it's just a little too new for us to be able to get detailed info on, since the service guide for it hasn't been uploaded to the database we have access to. Which is the included apps and such have you disabled or removed before doing the benchmarks? The antivirus trial is often a big resource hog…

Ahhh I see. So when should I expect a service guide to come out. I realised that when I put the full model number into the page to search up drivers to install on Acer website. It does not recognise the full thing. It only recognises up to SF14-51.

On the Acer support page your laptop will always come up as the Swift SF14-51as that is the basic model number, the last -50P8 is specific to your Swift specification of your laptop that Acer uses to distinguish all the different specification models of the Swift SF14-51 laptops, so Acer will never list your laptop as the Swift SF14-51-50P8 in the support page.

The Acer service guide that we are talking about for your laptop is the official guide that technicians use as a guide for the specs of your Swift SF14-51 which is not available to you.

Typically we get access to SGs for new models fairly quickly, but Acer is current in the process of replacing the person who has been doing that for the last few years. That means it might be a little longer this time. As Steven said, the last four digits are used to determine the actual build of your SKU. Things like memory installed, storage installed and case color are defined by them, but the base model stays the same.
