You should deal directly with the vendor again. Tell him that you want to simply trade the 27" monitor for the 24" monitor. But only if the 27" monitor is still in new condition with original packaging also in new condition and everything back in the packaging exactly as you received it in new condition.
However, if the 27" monitor is dirty with fingerprints, smudges or scratches —- or its original packaging is messed up or torn —- or it can't be put back in the package exactly as received brand new, then the vendor will not be happy. He would have to sell it at a big discount because it was an already opened package and legally a used unit. He would lose money on the trade because he would have a used 27" monitor in an already open package. Nobody would pay full price for it.
