Nitro 5 AN515-57-I2C HID touchpad driver issue-Will reinstalling the windows solve my issue?

I am using an Acer Nitro 5 AN515-57 and have been experiencing touchpad issues for the past few months. Initially, my touchpad stopped working. I attempted to resolve the issue by uninstalling the I2C HID drivers from the Device Manager and installing Synaptics and ElanTech drivers. After restarting, the touchpad would work for a few days but then stop again. However, a few days ago, it stopped working completely. I have attached a screenshot of the I2C HID drivers from the Device Manager for reference.

Will reinstalling the windows solve my issue?

Hi,

Installing wrong driver may cause problems, go to Device Manager, expand Mice and other pointing devices, right click HID compliant mouse and select Properties, move to detail tab and select Hardware IDs, post the picture of Value window like mine.

I can not make out whether you need a Synaptics driver or Elan driver, what is the current driver version anyway, we try another method, go to BIOS screen, move to Main tab, do you see Touchpad mode as shown installed?in the picture? If you don't, press Ctrl+S buttons together while you are in the Main tab, try changing Touchpad mode to PS2 and reboot, switch back to I2C mode and see whether it resolves the issue.

OK, let us give this a try and see, go to Acer support site and download IO drivers, then head to Device Manager and expand System Devices, uninstall the Serial IO drivers and reinstall the downloaded driver, if this doesn't fix, you can either wait for someone else to help you or get help from a local technician at a laptop repair shop.

Touchpad cable was loose. I insert it properly and now touchpad is working properly.

i press ctrl +s but it doesn't shows touchpad option what to do??

If your cursor will not move or your touchpad is not working at all:

Remove connected devices - Remove all devices that are connected to the system except for the power cord. This includes external keyboard, mouse, flash drives, hard drives and other peripherals.
Enable/disable your touchpad - Many systems allow you to turn the touchpad On or Off by pressing a key combination. On most models it is FN + F7 or FN + F2, but could also be a different function key. The touchpad function key will be labeled with one of the images below.
Restart your computer - Restarting your system may help your touchpad start responding again.
Reset BIOS or UEFI to default settings - Some systems have touchpad settings in the BIOS/UEFI.
Reinstall touchpad drivers - Missing or incorrect drivers may cause your touchpad to not work properly. You can try downloading and installing the latest driver from Acer Drivers and Manuals page. You may need to attach an external mouse to complete this process.
Restore Windows- Newer versions of Windows allow you to restore your operating system without losing your personal data. Make sure you select the option to Keep my files.

If you can move your cursor but are having problems with cursor speed, erratic behavior or tapping and clicking:

Adjust touchpad sensitivity - If your cursor is moving too fast or too slow, you can try changing your touchpad sensitivity.
Disable tap to click - Accidentally making contact with the touchpad when typing can cause the cursor to jump around or leave the window.

Don't worry , I will help . I had a similar error where I2C HID device was showing a yellow warning similar to this:

This error showing causes Touchpad Disability .
What to do?
1. Connect an external mouse and check if the mouse is working with sync to pointer in screen.
2. If yes, then just go here :— Device Manager→ Human Interface Devices → I2C HID Device( with yellow warning) and Uninstall it.
3. Don't worry , this driver will be gone and device manager will get an auto-refresh.
4.When the device manager reappears , scroll and right click on Human Interface Devices → Scan for Hardware changes . Select this option.
5. Congrats !! your touchpad is running again.
