Seeking to Maximize Performance of My Nitro Nitro ANV15-51 2024 Laptop

Hello everyone,

I have an Acer Nitro ANV15-51 with an i9 13900H processor, 40GB of RAM, and 2TB split across 2 Gen4 SSDs m.2. However, I've noticed that my system doesn't reach the 75W promised by the graphics card. Additionally, I have performance issues on ultra settings with games like FC24, The Witcher 3, Harry Potter Quidditch Champions, Forza Motorsport, and Dragon Ball FighterZ. This laptop is supposed to be high-performance, and I should be able to play these games without any issues. Has anyone been able to get the most out of their PC? I also notice that the airflow is not as efficient as it should be with a processor as hot as the i9.

If you have any tips, improvements, or anything I can do to enjoy my games peacefully, I would greatly appreciate it.

If I can't solve this soon, unfortunately, I won't be able to continue purchasing products from this brand as I was promised a high-performance PC for gaming and work. I might have to switch to a PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X.

Hi, Acer recommends up to 32GB RAM for this laptop model, I don't understand how you can have 40GB? 2x16GB DDR5-5200MT/s SODIMMs would run fastest.

Take a screen shot of Task Manager-Performance-Memory (full screen) and post that in your reply, click on "Quote" or type @Puraw

BTW, the second PCIe slot supports 3x4 lanes for M.2 NVMe Gen3 SSDs, that Gen4 SSD you installed in Slot 2 will run at half the rated speed so you should have WindowsOS on the Gen4 boot drive in Slot 1.

Also check how many background apps are running at the background that should not exceed 80, open Task Manager-Processes that will show separately the background programs, if far more than 80 apps, uninstall the programs you don't use like bloatware, preinstalled programs, 3rd-party browsers/virus checkers and trial versions that all communicate with Cloud using your resources.

The i9 is quite hot for gaming on a laptop. To make the cooling process more efficient, you can use a laptop cooler. Or switch to the Nitro 16 series, this model has a better overall cooling system than the Nitro V15.

According to information I read on this forum, the specifications provided by Acer for their products are those with which the product has been tested, and the system can support up to 64GB of RAM. Additionally, I have the Windows 11 OS on the Gen4 slot, and the Gen3 slot is just for game or file storage.

I removed all unnecessary programs from the PC, updated all drivers to their latest version, and optimized the system based on responses I saw on this forum, but I still do not get the expected performance from a system that should be high-performance for gaming.

I don’t know whether to be disappointed with the i9 or with the Acer brand. As I mentioned, the cooling system also doesn’t help much; it sounds like an airplane but cools like a coffee maker.

The i9 processor is supposed to deliver maximum performance in gaming for playing titles like Cyberpunk or Hogwarts Legacy at high quality settings decently. Is it hot? Yes, I know that. But despite being hot, I previously had an ASUS Zephyrus G14 from 2019, which also didn't have the best cooling, but I never had performance issues or thermal throttling because the system was made for that. Here, the cores get limited, and the frame rate drops from 60 fps to 9 fps suddenly due to thermal throttling. Additionally, the CPU and GPU never reach 100% usage, Acer limits its systems, or at least I see that this specific model is limited.

I wanted a Predator or the 16-inch model. However, support informed me that they couldn't exchange the PC due to their policies, they could only repair it, but in my case, they didn't see any failure as it was the normal functioning.

I am quite disappointed with the brand because I switched from a high-end ASUS system to this Acer, which is supposed to be an even higher-end model, only to get mediocre performance in games and even in my daily tasks.

The Nitro V15 is the lower-end model. Its cooling system prioritizes the GPU so it is inadequate for i9. Many users from other brands also complained that the i9-13900H is too hot even with just running the small tasks. The Predator series has the best overall cooling system with more heat pipes.

Some solutions I can recommend to you are to replace the thermal paste or disable the turbo boost.

Yes @AnhEZ28 , you are absolutely right, the i9 processor has been heavily criticized by users for its poor performance and overheating issues. What I didn't know was that the Nitro V15 model was low-end... that truly shocks me and makes me sad because it was not what I expected. I was quite ignorant when making this purchase; I saw the specs and thought it was a good machine for gaming and work. I will change the thermal paste and use it until it burns out or I can resell it. Do you think it is more worthwhile to buy a Predator? I doubt that I will buy another PC in the next 4 years, so I will stick with this one. I'll upgrade it to 64GB of RAM and use it even if it gets hot. Anyway, I have a base with fans that cools it down by 2 or 3 degrees.

The Nitro V15 is at the same level as the TUF series. You can trade to a Nitro 16 or the Predator 16. It has a better overall cooling system. But avoid the i9 for now since it is unstable when running the game.

I would just wait for the next generation Nitro 16 or the Predator 16 that is equipped with the Core Ultra series. The 13th and 14th Intel CPUs have an issue with high-temperature issues.
