hi

I have an aspire XC-840 and have hooked it up to my tv via a HDMI as I normally do. Picture is coming through fine but there is no sound at all.
in the display the tv is picked up (50UHD_LCD_TV) but there is no sound through the tv.
in the sound settings it states no output devices found and does not find the tv when I try to find a device.

Drivers all seem up to date, it won’t let me rinstall them. I have swapped the HDMI Cables and ports.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

thank you

Do you plug the HDMI cable to the motherboard HDMI port or the external graphics card HDMI port?

    Hi

Thanks for your reply. I have just checked and there is only one HDMI port on the computer as far as I can see

(I may be being a stupid old man here, but can only see 1)

Give a reinstall of the audio drivers a try, and you are correct that you only have the one HDMI port. If you had a discrete GPU your model would have been an XC-840G. :)

Do you have any warnings or errors showing in Device Manager?

Done the reinstall, but no luck. No errors. I think I may just have to connect a speaker

The HDMI of the XC-820 desktop is an old HDMI 1.4b and it could be that your HDMI port is either dirty and corroded and needs a through cleanout with Isopropyl Alcohol or the port is faulty and one of its TMDS pins which is explained as Transition Minimized Differential Signaling (TMDS) interleaves with video, audio and auxiliary data using three different packet types, called the Video Data Period is affected or the HDMI cable that you are using is faulty, so try rectifying these things and see if you get audio Check all those out and see if you get sound. Good luck and hope this helps you out some more.

It may not be in sync to the video with speakers. Slight delay. YouTube has a few videos that may help. search "no sound with hdmi" etc. What Windows are you using ?
