Acer aspire 7 stopped working and got stuck on black screen

I left my laptop on the lock screen, and after a few minutes, it stopped responding. So, I powered it off by pressing the power button. When I tried to turn it on, it got stuck on a black screen, although the laptop's keyboard light was on. I tried powering it off by pressing the power button for 15 seconds and then turning it on again, but I faced the same problem.

After attempting this a few times, I managed to get the Acer logo screen, but it got stuck on the logo. After waiting for a few minutes, I powered it off again, and the issue returned to the black screen.

How can I solve this problem?

Hi, as soon as you see the Acer logo quickly press the Alt + F10 keys and in the blue Troubleshoot menu select Reset this PC (see red box 2nd picture).

I am not getting the logo screen now if I get it I will give it a try

Hi, have you tried to reset the battery with a pin? Stick a pin in the pinhole with a battery sign at back of the laptop and press till you feel it click, keep pressing for a few seconds, remove the pin, connect your adapter/charger and try to boot. If no results, try this:

Boot with a recent Windows USB Recovery flash drive, if you don't have that you can make one on another PC that has the same Windows version: Insert a 10GB USB2.0 flash drive in the USB port of another PC and in Windows type Recovery drive:

It takes about 40 minutes to create. With that Recovery drive you can boot your laptop, and you will get the same blue Troubleshoot screen as I showed above. To boot with that USB flash drive you need to first move the USB drive to the top of the Boot devices list in BIOS. Insert the USB drive in the USB2.0 port of your laptop and boot to BIOS with F2, move to the BOOT screen and check that the USB drive is listed, move it to the top of the list with F5/F6 or the arrow-up key. Save changes on exit BIOS and reboot without F2. You should now get the blue screens.

My laptop turned on today without any issues. I didn’t do any of the steps mentioned earlier. I just turned on my laptop after 8 hours, and now it works fine.

What should I do to prevent the same issue from happening again?

that’s a good question. I had the same problem, then it was fixed by itself, then it happened again. Wait till I tell you the story about the Windows Updates where the laptop would only work whenever I was going to the technician and never when I was home. Those Aspires… I use laptops more than 20 years now, I never had such problems..
