Hello- I have an Acer Aspire 3 laptop that has a screen colors display/issue. The screen colors are either a pink or greenish tint. This happened about a week ago; it just flipped out of nowhere. This is the second time in the past 3 months this has happened. Microsoft support helped to fix it remotely the first time. The laptop was purchased mid-2021. Can anyone tell me if Acer has remote support to fix the problem and/ or is it worth getting fixed at a repair shop? I am not a computer expert so don't think I can fix myself. Thank you!

There are allot of Aspire 3 models that Acer make, which model Aspire 3 do you have should be on the back sticker and should be something similar to this A315-XX, as then we can give you a more precise answer.

Hi Steven- the model info is: A 317-52

The Aspire A317-52 has an LED 17.3" with a Display Resolution (pixels) of 1920 x 1080 (FHD) and 1600 x 900 (HD+) screen, this laptop has either a matte or a glossy screen and is connected to a 30pin video connector.

    Try these steps first:

    1. Adjust Display Color Settings.
    2. Calibrate Your Display.
    3. Update Graphics Drivers.
    4. Check Monitor Connections.
    5. Reset Monitor Settings.

If all the above doesn't fix the tint issues then it could be that your laptop over time its eDP cable could have gotten damaged, as this cable transits from the screen top case to the mainboard bottom case and by the opening and closing action of the laptop this cables gets damaged and its data cable could be damaged and faulty. I would inspect and see if this eDP cable is damaged and if it is then change the cable first and then see if the screen performs normally,

If the eDP cable is not the issue then the screen needs to be changed. to one of the screens below that Acer lists as oem screens for the A317-52 laptop. To find out the exact screen that your A317-52 looptop has, install HWiNFO64 and look in this software's Monitor Section as your screen model will be listed there. Good luck and hope this helps you out.

Thanks for all of the information, Steven! I will try the steps you listed above, but due to the age of the laptop and possibly having to replace the cable you mention and/ or the screen- is it cost-effective or should I look into a new laptop?

It depends on your budget and if you have a good technician in your area, but and if you can buy a new laptop I would go to that route, as spending money on these older laptops can be a never ending task, unless they are under $100 its not worth it, but its up to you. Good luck.
