Model N16Q10 no longer responds to touching screen

Bought in 2017. I recently signed in then tapped the symbol on bottom of screen to see list of my apps. It did not respond. I tapped every symbol on screen = none will respond.

I HELD HOLD, SHIFT, and tried every key to reset it. Didn't work. But a different screen appeared and if I tap a item in it's left column = it would change to that screen. But it will not shut down and now when I turn the Chromebook on it tells me things = but I cannot turn that off.

Any suggestions?

    We don't have a cross reference for those "N16Q10" type "model numbers". We need the actual model number from the sticker that shows your S/N and SNID, or the first ten digits of the S/N. From a post by another user, a Chromebook with that number might be one of the CB5-312T series models. The CB5-312T models look like they were released in the middle of 2018 though…

    OK, that seems to be a CB5-312T-K8Z9, an ARM based 13" Chromebook from 2018. That design had a separate cable running between the display and motherboard for the touch screen, instead of incorporating it withing the video cable. There are a couple of steps that can be done to help figure out what the issue is. First is to pull it apart enough to disconnect the touch cable. You remove the back (10 screws, then pry apart gently) and disconnect the battery. once that's done the cable can be disconnected (C on this diagram):

    Use a swab and some alcohol to clean the contacts, wait for it to dry fully, then reattach and reassemble. Hopefully that will be enough to get it working. If that doesn't do anything we're most likely looking at a problem internally in the cable, since it gets flexed each time the laptop is opened or closed. Replacing the cable is a more involved process, since you have to take the display portion apart. The cable part number is:
