Hello,

ACER didn't provide in its model Swift1 114-34-P8Q7 (model N20H2), a socket for connecting a second SSD memory, thought a space is (God sei thanked) foreseen for it.

Could you please inform me, where can I acquire/buy (online) a socket M.2 for NVMe SSD for upgrade memory ?

I mean at a decent price for just 1 single unit, delivery costs included.

Thank you beforehand

Hi, this model comes with a128 GB eMMC Flash drive and one M.2-2280-Slot (NVMe), that slot you show is for a flat ribbon cable for an additional device but not for a M.2 PCIe SSD.

    Thank you Puraw.

I was guessing, considering the built in design (on the right side of the picture) which seems to be the same as the existing "128 GB eMMC Flash drive with the M.2-2280-Slot (NVMe)" on the left side of the picture, that it would allow to add a second SSD memory, provided that I could procure the same M.2-2280-Slot (NVMe) to slide in the available connection?

I've added another picture for better see the similarity between the existing left and hopefully right designed SSD connections.

Could you please re confirm if not possible, then I would loose the existing 128GB SSD plus the all work of copying it to the new one :-(.

    Thank you again

    Dear Puraw,

if the above is correct, would this (type of) connector be the right to slide in ?

if not, would have any reference that I could procure?

    Many thanks again

    Patrick

Hi Patrick, there is no mention anywhere on Acer Community or in any reviews about a 2nd M.2 slot for an SSD, wait till someone else responds with access to the Acer Service Guide for this model, which I have not. IMO this slot is for another HW function (GPU?), to find out the details (lanes) for that slot download HWINFO.64 Free Download HWiNFO Sofware | Installer & Portable for Windows, DOS

Although Acer has the pads for an M.2 socket there, and likely actually has an M.2 socket installed on other laptop models that use the same base board, it's unlikely they have the rest of the support circuitry to actually use an M.2 SSD if you load the socket. You would need the figure out which other components are needed, install them as well, then flash the BIOS with something that enumerates that PCIe device in order for the the SSD to be recognized. The risks associated with reflowing solder to surface mount devices are high enough that you are much better off just putting in a bigger SSD in the single M.2 slot that is provided. That 128GB is really too small for much use, replace it by cloning to a larger one (1TB, 2TB maybe?) then swapping them. Use an external USB NVMe enclosure to do the cloning.
