    Hi @UserLewis

Please refer to the below snapshot and do the battery reset by inserting the paper clip into the pin hole and press for four seconds.

If still the issue persists we have to try to reinstall the chipset & the serial I/O drivers from the below weblink:

    https://www.acer.com/us-en/support/product-support/Aspire_A315-53G/downloads

Please ensure the Windows OS updates are up to the latest. Before doing any changes to the existing setup please make sure the data in been taken a back up and stored safe.

    Good Luck!!!

    Hi @UserLewis

Thanks for the update: Please perform the below steps and share the output:

To run Safe Mode with minimum drivers in Windows 10, you can do the following:

    1. Restart your computer
    2. At the sign-in screen, hold down the Shift key and select Power > Restart
    3. After the computer restarts, select Troubleshoot > Advanced Options > Startup Settings > Restart
    4. After the computer restarts, select 4 or F4 to start the computer in Safe Mode

Safe Mode starts Windows with a minimal set of drivers and services. You can also use Safe Mode with Networking to access the internet and your network, or Safe Mode with Command Prompt to use a Command Prompt window. If you're unable to log in or access your settings, you can enter Safe Mode from the sign-in screen. You can also restart in Safe Mode if you're seeing a blank or black screen. To do this, you can turn your device off and on a number of times.

Even in safe mode it remains the same. It detects an external drive in the USBs but does not read them (it does not detect the name of the external drive or its content)

    Hi @UserLewis

It could be an issue with the external USB drive itself, could you please recheck the drive once again with a different system/laptop and try by connecting an another/fresh USB flash drive to this USB ports one at a time, and check, Every time when you connect any external HDD/ flash drives please follow the below:

To connect and disconnect an external flash drive to a laptop, you can:

    • Connect: Plug the flash drive into the laptop
    • Disconnect: Safely eject the flash drive from the laptop:
      1. On Windows, look for the Safely Remove Hardware icon in the bottom right-hand corner of the taskbar
      2. If you don't see the icon, select Show hidden icons
      3. Press and hold or right-click the icon, then select the flash drive you want to remove
      4. On a Mac, drag the removable disk icon for the flash drive from the desktop into the trash

It's important to safely eject a flash drive to avoid:

    • Losing data
    • Damaging the flash drive or the laptop's USB ports
    • Causing malfunctions when connecting the flash drive in the future
    • Corrupting data that's being transferred to the drive

You should make sure you're not transferring anything to the flash drive before ejecting it.

It was my first check. All external devices work in other computers

(and I always follow that instructions to disconnect external devices)

    Any other solution?

    Hi @UserLewis

If your external drive isn't working on a USB port, there are several other possibilities, including:

    • Power supply issues: The drive might not be getting enough power from your computer.
    • Driver issues: The driver software for your external drive might be outdated, incompatible, or corrupt.
    • Hard drive malfunction: The drive might need to be repaired or replaced.
    • USB port connection issues: The USB port, plug, or wire might be damaged.
    • USB legacy support: The boot process used by BIOS firmware might be overlooking the connected external drive.

    Thank you Joe

    • Power supply issues: The drive might not be getting enough power from your computer.

The mouse (including the wireless one) works so it shouldn't be

    • Driver issues: The driver software for your external drive might be outdated, incompatible, or corrupt.

I have disconnected the all ports and reconnected them loading the drivers again. I don't know if anything else could be done.

    • Hard drive malfunction: The drive might need to be repaired or replaced.

It could be, but all 3 USBs fail at the same time. It would be something where the 3 USBs go.

    • USB port connection issues: The USB port, plug, or wire might be damaged.

    Hi @UserLewis

Then there could be an issue with the computer hardware/OS itself, where a Acer trained technician should intervene for further diagnostics, In this case taking data backup and reinstalling the OS is not possible in your system due to the USB ports/drive issue, hence please carry the laptop to any nearby Acer authorized service center/ Acer stores for further diagnosis.

Surprisingly it has been fixed. As it was related to access permissions (the mouse worked fine) I touched several things but I think it was related to the login with Microsoft account (I changed it to login with local account), and with Windows Hello (I have not logged in with Windows Hello)
