P03-600 replacing CPU fan that stopped running, trying to replace it with Thermal take/Cooler Master

My fan started kicking up for a few seconds every couple of days and I finally went into Predator Sense... CPU very high. Opened it up this morning and CPU fan isn't running.

So, obviously looking to replace. Measurements seem to be 95mm. There are a few options on Amazon which seem to be in the same general price range. Was going to post links but apparently my tablet kicks me out of my post when I leave. I think there was a Thermal take and Cooler Master for starters. The first is a tower-my case is around 160mm deep but not sure if I need that. The cooler master pretty much looks like the one I have. And so on....

(Of course, Amazon gives you all kinds of sizes even when you specifically ask for one!)

The tower one is Intel LGA 1200 and I believe my pc is something like 775? I need to make sure I get my info off my pc so I've got it when it's out of commission.

Not answered after all. My CPU measures 75mm between screws and I found a table that translated it to 95mm. The first fan I bought uses push pins and I really don't want to gut my PC to remove the metal pins or backplate, or whatever is behind there to try and make it work.

I bought a Cooler Master 95mm and it doesn't fit, measuring 72mm. I've no idea what to do now. Did the table I found get it wrong? Is it a 95mm? Acer has such basic and unhelpful "manuals" that I can't go to them for answers.

I can't begin to explain how "peeved" I am with Acer for their unwillingness to provide consumers with the information necessary to fix their pc. I'm retired and can't afford to buy new so rely on being able to do these small fixes. Appreciate any insight into what my next step should be.

The fan Acer shipped is a standard Intel design:

Built by Cooler Master for Acer. The CPU socket on your system is a LGA1151, so older than the new LGA 1200 but newer than the 775 designs. In any case, the best cooling upgrade for the cost that we know works well is the Noctua NH-U9S.

That CPU cooler is huge and expensive. I'm not upgrading, just needing a replacement. Where do I get a list of part numbers because all I seem to find is the manual that only addresses a few things and, so far, nothing I've needed. (sigh)

BTW, Thx for the help. I'm becoming more than a little frustrated at the lack of info. I would have sworn I'd been told it was lga 775 but again, no reference. Based on what you said, this is what I'm coming up with. How do they look? (P03-600UR18)

Another note…. the original CPU fan is a 4-pin power connector & the only one of these 4 that says its 4-pin is the TW one. Thx

Any of those looks like it will fit, but as you surmise you need to verify they use the same fan connector type. When we look at the board itself, the CPU fan is obviously a four pin connector (#3):

The 4 pin connectors have power, ground, a speed control and a speed sense. If you plugged in a three wire fan it would either run at full speed all the time or be controlled normally, but you wouldn't be able to see the speed in which it is running.

LOL...I thought this posted but checking back hours later, it didnt, saying it was 9 characters too short.

I'd addressed the 4 pin issue and these were other choices. Thermaltake has a 4pin but from sellers other than Amazon, making it a pain if I run into any issues. Therefore, I think ill go with the TW. Thx and hope this helps someone else but this PC is likely too old now for most to bother with!

Okay, new problem regarding the CPU fan and I don't know what to do now. Acer put longer screwins on the backplate so, when I screw this fan on and it won't go tighter, it's still not making contact. I am in tears. Acer has made this all so difficult by not providing any real manuals, by using non-normal parts, by not providing any help with replacements. Weeks of this, 3 different fans, now this...and I haven't a clue how to tell if a fan will fit into the original backplate, so additional efforts will probably yield nothing different. Yes, I built my previous PC, but that was in 2008, it was in a normal-sized case, and I wasn't 65! Building it yourself makes it easy to make changes because you know every piece in there. With this...replacing the PSU required taking far too much apart and the tiny space meant taking so much longer. Now I have to totally dismantle it to change out the backplate.... I literally feel sick. And no real manual.

Just some additional advice, as you are doing this wrongly and using the wrong cpu cooler, as you should have replaced the oem PO3-600 desktops cpu cooler fan only by looking at the part number on the cpu fan and searching that part number on the web, as its a Cooler Master fan like billsey has shown you above the cooler master cpu cooler Acer part #: DC.10811.012

The other and much better option is to buy a higher spec cpu cooler for your PO3-600 desktop, which is the Noctua NH-U9S chromemax black as that is the best and most efficent cpu cooler, and it also fits into the oem Acer mainboard plate screws and you wouldn’t have to change the back plate, as that is what all community members have done and used on the PO3-6xx desktops.
