The last bios update v1.10 for your PH18-72 laptop is to do with the laptops EC chip (that is a programmed chip like the bios chip is) on your laptop and its referred to as the Embedded Controller, which is a small computer within your laptop that manages the interaction between hardware components and the operating system. It controls various functions such as keyboard backlighting, battery management, and power distribution. The EC also helps in providing thermal management and system security features, making it an essential component for the proper functioning of your laptop. So look at all those aspects of your laptop and see if this bios update has improved any of those features, Good luck and hope this helps you out.

Rear of the PH18-72 mobo where the EC chip is located:

The OP just wants someone else with a ph18-72 to TOFTT by updating their bios to 1.10 before he does.

    Lol. No doubt!

I applied v1.10 yesterday before reinstalling Windows to try to resolve some application crashes & issues with browsers & other web-based apps.

One thing that is fixed (hooray!) is use of external USB keyboard for invoking F2, F12 and entering BIOS password at boot. This never worked for me before - always had to reach over the external connected display to use the laptop built-in keyboard for any of those things and even then…

…I was never able to successfully enter the BIOS password first-try before v1.10 even using the built-in keyboard. With v1.10 I was able to enter the BIOS password (and from the USB keyboard) on the first try with no edits for the first time ever.

Haven't noticed any other fixes or new problems since upgrading to v1.10.
