Just got home with this laptop and the speakers are horrendous. On full volume … they sound like I'm hearing through a tin can. What do I need to do to repair this?

If this just happened or after an update, restore the system to an earlier point when the sound was OK, type Restore in the Search bar and click on "Create a restore point" and on "System Restore" with a date.

If the sound was bad right from the beginning or you don't have any Restore Points saved (System Protection disabled) you can try to uninstall the Realtek audio drivers with DDU in Safe Mode: https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000091878/graphics.html after uninstalling don't install any drivers but just reboot and Windows will install the correct audio drivers and Codec. The RTK audio console can be installed from the Windows store (look for "Audio Control Realtek".

I don't know which exact AN17-xx laptop model you have but these laptops are not designed to be a Hi-Fi powerhouse and/or have speakers to be of Hi-Fi quality. These laptops are designed to be used with good quality to high end noise reducing over-ear headphones or earbuds as their speakers are just for basic audio output. If you think that your new AN17-xx has a faulty speaker and its crackling and/or sounds like its cone is lose or very distorted, then send your laptop to Acer Tech Support in your country so that the speakers are changed. Good luck and hope this helps you out.

These are the speakers fitted to all the Nitro AN17-xx model laptops, they are all the same Acer part number
