Hi

I got a brand-new acer aspire 5 15-58m a few months ago and now, along with a few problems i have noticed that if i plug it in, i need to shut it off, wait like 10 seconds and then open for it to charge and work at the same time, anyone knows why?

Those symptom that you are describing are either that your Aspire 5 15 A515-58M laptop has a frozen EC chip or its power rail has problems and/or burned out chips that for the initial fix is to do a Hard Reset of the laptop, which the laptops back cover needs to be opened which you can do if there are no Acer warranty stickers or markings on the back cover screws.

If you are computer savvy and are willing to open the laptop then do the hard reset if you are not prepared to do that then send/take your Aspire 5 15 A515-58M laptop to Acer Tech Support in your country so that they can fix this issue. Good luck and hope this helps you out.

RTC/BIOS battery plug where you need to short the +&- pins to reset CMOS

Hard Reset: remove the eleven (11) screws securing the lower case to the upper case laptop, then carefully pry the lower case from the bottom side to release the latches, take the main battery out and disconnect the RTC/BIOS battery and then short these batteries + & - pins at the mainboard plug and take the ram out, leave the laptop like that for at least 15 min and then reconnect everything.

When reconnecting everything back, if you have 2x ram modules only connect 1x ram module first and alternate the ram to see if the ram is not the issue of the laptop not booting properly or its the EC or Chipset chips that are causing this boot issue as this will reset the laptop and the laptop should boot properly. If not then send/take the laptop to Acer Tech Support in your country.
