  • Most laptop manufacturers, including HP, Dell, Lenovo, and Acer, lock their BIOS settings to restrict access to advanced options for several important reasons. First, these advanced settings can significantly impact system performance and stability; improper adjustments can lead to hardware failures or an unbootable system, which manufacturers aim to prevent. Additionally, locking these settings protects the warranty by reducing the likelihood of user-induced damage that could result in costly repairs or returns. Furthermore, manufacturers consider the diverse skill levels of their user base; the average user may lack the technical expertise to navigate advanced settings safely, leading to potential mishaps. Finally, allowing unrestricted access could expose manufacturers to increased legal and reputational risks if users experience issues due to changes made in the BIOS. Therefore, while some users may desire more control over their laptops’ performance, manufacturers prioritize safety, warranty protection, and overall user experience by restricting access to these features.

Some exceptional are Only high-end laptops with advanced BIOS settings tend to be costly, often reflecting their premium features and performance capabilities. For instance, models like the MacBook Pro M3 Max 16-inch can reach prices as high as ₹7,19,900, while the Razer Blade 16 is priced around $4,299 (approximately ₹3,57,444). Other expensive options include the Dell Alienware Area 51 MR2 at ₹3,96,990 and the MSI Titan 18 HX A14V, which costs about $5,000 (around ₹4,15,729). These laptops are designed for users who require powerful hardware for gaming or professional applications and often include advanced features such as high refresh rate displays and top-tier CPUs and GPUs.

Ok aitwa5, so lets say that Acer allows their users to unlock the bios for a full on overclocking (like in gaming desktops do) of the gpu-cpu-ram settings, how are you going to cool the AN515-57 with the extra heat that it produces from these modifications? As that is the reason why manufacturers have stopped the modifications of their laptops, as allowing it, damages the laptop reliability!

Acer has stopped modifications and/or overclocking of their laptops a long time ago, as allot of users (like you) damaged their laptops and they blamed Acer. The way your Nitro 5 AN515-57 cpu/gpu thermal module is designed is for what the max performance that Acer has set the AN515-57 laptop to perform at, be happy 😁and happy gaming and computing!

  • It’s hilarious that you think your complaints about Acer actually matter. Just because you’re frustrated doesn’t mean you have a valid point. Most laptops come with limited BIOS options for a reason—they’re built for users who don’t want to turn their machines into overpriced bricks, especially budget ones, are designed with limited options for a reason.

If your memory settings are grayed out, it’s likely because Acer knows better than to let someone who clearly doesn’t understand the implications of advanced settings mess around. Instead of whining that “Acer sucks,” maybe consider that not every laptop is built for someone with unrealistic expectations. You can whine all you want, but the hardware limitations are still there.

Instead of blaming Acer for not catering to your unrealistic expectations, maybe it’s time to face the facts: If you want full control over your hardware, stop expecting a budget laptop to perform like a high-end machine. Invest in something that actually meets your needs instead of throwing a fit over a device that wasn’t designed for you.

    Good luck figuring it out!
