Upgrading RAM on Aspire 5 A515-54-57QT

Hi all,

I'm looking to upgrade the RAM on my Aspire 5 A515-54-57QT, but I have a few questions.

What RAM does this laptop require? I've read that 16GB DDR4-3200 SODIMM is compatible, but task manager performance shows a memory speed of 2667 MT/s. Will the difference in speed between two sticks cause issue?

I've also read that of the two slots used, of 4GB each, currently on this laptop, one is soldered down while the other is removable. If I upgraded the removable slot to 16GB, how would this effect dual channel vs single channel operation and performance?

Thanks for your insight!

The Memory that is used in your laptop is a Dual channel, when compared to single channel the Dual channel RAM is twice as good in performance.

    Thanks for the reply.

As I understood it, using two sticks of different size, speed or even manufacture can cause issues, including making dual channel impossible. I could be wrong here, this is all new to me. I read somewhere that some motherboards can perform "partial dual channel", so if I replaced the removable 4gb with 16bg it would utilize the 4gb onboard with 4gb of the removable, giving me 8gb of dual channel as I have now. The remaining 12gb of the removable would be single channel. I haven't been able to determine if this motherboard has that capability, but I would assume so looking at what you posted. I'd like to be sure before I purchase.

I've added a couple screen shots which might help narrow down exactly what I need for a ram upgrade or if it's even possible. Again, thank you all for your help with this.
