Trying to upgrade my prebuild Predator Orion 3000 PO3-620, Pls help with the pc

Hey guys. I'm Trying to upgrade my prebuild pc that i bought 4 years ago. The specs are a GPU NVIDIA RTX 3070, Intel Core i7-11700F, First i bought new ram the Corsair Vengeance RGB PRO DDR4 3600MHz 32GB but when i put it in my pc it didn't work at the correct speed because i found out that my motherboard is old and doesn't have XMP. btw i've returned the ram and i am thinking of buying the same one but faster Mhz. So i need help with a few things. i need a newer mother board that is going to be compatible with the rest, a better ram, and i need it to fit im my pc.

The max ram that the PO3-620 desktop can run with is 64GB total into all its 4x ram slots, and you can use 4GB, 8GB, 16GB modules, this desktop does not use XMP overclocked ram and that is why the Vengeance RGB PRO DDR4 3600MHz didn’t work, this desktop only works with max DDR4-3200 • CL=22 • Non-ECC • UDIMM • 288-pins • 1.2V • 1Rx8 or 2Rx8 • PC4-25600 type ram of the following ram below that Acer recommends or have a look at the Crucial Ram upgrades suggestions for their ram kits for the PO3-620 at \Acer Predator PO3-620 RAM & SSD Upgrades, good luck and hope this helps you out.

Thanks for the help. but i am also thinking about making a motherboard swap for a motherboard that supports xmp. But i am scared that it's firstly not gonna be compatible with the other components in the pc but also that it wont fit in the case i have. do you have any tips?

Why are you doing this? PC is not fast enough anymore? Unfortunately changing a motherboard and getting faster/more RAM won't make it that much faster.

Yes, you could re-use your CPU, GPU, storage device(s), and those small terrible fans. But since the Acer mobo in your Predator has a non-typical power delivery (ATX12Vo PSU), it won't work with a 99.99% of motherboards out there. This would mean you need a new PSU as well. Besides, a new mobo might not even fit in your current case. Then you might also lose your front panel connectors, and even a working power button is not guaranteed.

Using old parts and getting a new mobo, PSU, faster RAM, and case. Okay. But it won't be that much faster than what you have now. Your limiting factors will still be your CPU and GPU depending on what games you play, at what resolution, and what is your target framerate. Sucks, right?

Your best bet would be to build a completely new PC from scratch. Keep the GPU and storage drives, but sell the rest. Oh, and you definitely need a new CPU cooler as well.

AMD and Intel are launching new stuff. You should be able to find used parts for cheap since many gamers have ungrade itch.

This is a typical result from buying the less expensive PO3 models rather than the PO5 or PO7… The case is small enough that less upgrades can be done and they had to do that funny shaped motherboard to keep the end cost down. With one of the larger systems you can upgrade the motherboard without losing access to front ports…

I wanted to upgrade the motherboard and ram because i play rust and the 16GB of ram is not enough. i get like 70fps and rust uses all the 16 GB of ram i have. My friend upgraded him ram to 32GB 3600Mhz, he go significantly more fps and if uses like 25 GB of the ram on rust. Thanks for the help and the the info. and as i see it i would probably need to sell the pc and buy a new one. but the problem i have is that i dont have that much money. the pc is almost 5 years old. when i bought it the price was around 2k dollars.

Well, as shown you can upgrade the memory without an issue, as long as you purchase the correct memory. You are right in that 16GB is too little for a lot of the modern games when trying for best performance. If you buy the 3200MHz, non-XMP memory (which is easier to find than 2933MHz) it will run at the 2933MHz speed the chipset prefers and either 32GB, 48GB or 64GB should be plenty. Don't get 2666MHz. Though it will work it will run at that slower speed. Don't get XMP enabled memory since it will run at it's JEDEC base speed, usually 2133 or 2400.
