Laptop AN515-52-73U4 randomly turned off and won't turn back on

I was playing some games on my nitro 5 when it out of nowhere turned off and now it has no signs of life. I tried some basic troubleshooting, like holding the power button for a minute while plugged out and in, tried a different power connecter, tried swapping around the ram sticks and unplugging the motherboard bios battery and still nothing. I suspect it overheated and something got damaged, but don't know how to fix that. I had the battery unplugged for around a year, because it was causing some problems and around three years back bought an extra stick of ram. That laptop is around 5 years old. I will probably send it in for repairs on Monday, but wanted to try if somebody has another idea of what I could do before that. Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

The Nitro AN515-52 is a 6 year old model laptop and if you haven’t changed the main battery then this issue could be from an old battery shutting your laptop down and a hard reset that you have done will not work, do a battery report and see the condition of the nattery design capacity to **** charge capacity that it is today, if its low then change the battery first and see if the laptop boots afterwards.

If you have changed the battery since you bought this laptop new or used and in the last 4 years or the battery is not the issue, then these symptoms are usually from the main power rail that has a shorted mosfet or capacitor that causes the power rail to fail and stops the laptop from powering on, be also aware that this power off and not being able to turn the laptop even after a hard reset like you have done, and on gaming laptops which is common and at worse could be that the laptops cpu or gpu has burned out due to their protective mosfets chips burning out and allowing a full 19v to enter the cpu or gpu and frying one of them out.

I suggest that you send/take your laptop to either Acer in your country or an experienced local technician so the laptop can be diagnosed and fixed. If its the cpu, then you need a new mainboard, if its the dedicated gpu, then the vrams can be disabled and you can use the laptop with the Intel cpu graphics. Good luck and hope this helps you out.

Thank you for the comment. The battery in my laptop is bad and doesn't work, but I don't think that is the problem, since it's disconnected from the motherboard and has been like that for around a year. I only used the laptop plugged in anyway.

I suspect you are right and some shortening or burning out has occurred. I will send it in for repairs. Thank you

Thank you for the comment. I looked around and haven't noticed any physical damage or burns. I tried holding the power button while plugged in and out several times. I don't have a "known" working ram sticks, but I have two of them, so hopefully both of them aren't faulty. A friend has an universal charger, which didn't help, so the charger shouldn't be the problem either. I can't check the LEDs, since they don't light up at all.

Haven't tried turning it on with the hhd disconnected, so I will try that, but I don't think that will do anything. Thank you anyway

A laptop needs to have a battery to operate 100% and properly, as not having a battery and operating the laptop on the adapter only can damage your laptop. Get a new battery and see if the laptop operates properly.

Yeah, I now realize that was stupid of me and I should have bought a new battery right away. I tried plugging in the old battery, which did nothing, so just buying a new one at this point is probably useless, because using it only with the adapter probably did damage something. Hopefully it's just the power rail and the fix won't be too expensive. I will send it in for repairs and hope for the best. Thank you

Unplug the charger and turn over the device. Look for a small pin hole with a small battery icon near it. If you find it use an unfolded paper clip and press the button inside the hole and hold it for a few seconds. Then plug in the laptop again and try turning it on. Hope it works.

Thanks for the comment. This won't work because the battery is unplugged and has been for around a year now. But my friend has looked at the notebook and thinks that the northbridge is burned, which means I will have to send it in to have that replaced.
