I2C driver not working/old version in Acer Nitro 5 AN515-43

I use an Acer Nitro 5 AN515-43

Hi, for the past year my trackpad worked choppy for several minutes at a time before stopping completely. I have traced this issue to the I2C driver having a (This device cannot start. (Code 10)A request for the HID descriptor failed).

version: 10.0.22621.2506

Driver date:21/06/2006

I have uninstalled the driver countless times and tried reinstalling different ones to no avail. I have tried downloading the touchpad drivers for my model from acer, however, they were not detected.

If someone could find a solution (as my touchpad is inactive) which I believe would be a more recent version of the driver, a reply would be much appreciated.

Hi, the 12C HID device is a Microsoft driver that is installed by Windows only, uninstall all Synaptics and ElanTech touchpad drivers with Device Manager and just reboot, Windows will install the MS Precision driver. If you have upgraded to Windows11 there may be issues with BIOS version 1.12, check that touchpad is set to 12C HID and not PS/2 in BIOS, press Ctrl+S to see the advanced BIOS options.
