Acer Aspire V3-731 Numeric Keyboard Issues (Windows 8 Upgrade)

Please help!

My 4 month old Acer Aspire V3-731 is the dud of the century!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Only the following keys on the numeric keyboard respond 125678*, surely the idea of buying a laptop with a numeric keyboard is to have the full functionality? Delete button also died a silent death.

I bought this laptop at Makro with an "extended warranty" which is a total poof!!!!

Despite being assured that the "extended warranty" includes next day onsite repair, Acer insist that I book the laptop in for "repairs". (Did I mention that Acer will not be providing me with a loan unit for the duration of the repair?)

Karen and Honeyclaw, I'm sorry that you're having this problem. As Raven pointed out, it could only be a software problem. I'm not sure of your keyboard's design, but your number pad should have a light that tells you if you have "Num Lock" on, which is what you probably want.

Go into Control Panel and check both System and Keyboard to make sure that you are set up properly. If that doesn't work, go back to Control Panel, Ease of Access Center, and find "Make Your Keyboard Easier to Use." Click it, and your first choice is "Mouse Keys." Make sure that it isn't checked.

Microsoft Support gives this suggestion:

1.       Open On-Screen Keyboard by clicking the Start button, clicking All Programs, clicking Accessories, clicking Ease of Access, and then clicking On-Screen Keyboard.

2.       Click Options, select the Numeric Keypad check box, and then click OK.

Some laptop keyboards have a "Lock" button. If yours does, press Fn and Lock. If you don't have a Lock key, look for NumLock, NumLk, or Num, and press the Fn key plus that key. If that doesn't work, try it again, but press Shift instead of Fn.

One poster insisted that he solved the problem by pressing Shift plus abc. Another poster wrote in to say that it worked for him.

Try to change your keyboard settings..... like from CA keyboard to US keyboard and so on........

Same here!Only I can't press space, v, down, right or escape without the onscreen keyboard! This sucks!
