Upgrading Processor to Intel SLBBQ on Acer Aspire - Compatibility and Performance?

Hello everyone,

I'm currently using an Acer Aspire [model number], running Linux Mint 21. I’m considering upgrading the processor to an Intel SLBBQ(Xeon X5570), but I’m unsure about compatibility with my system’s motherboard and chipset. Has anyone here attempted a similar upgrade or know if the Acer Aspire can support this processor?

Additionally, will I need to update the BIOS or make any other hardware adjustments to accommodate this upgrade? I'd also appreciate insights on how much of a performance improvement I might expect, especially for tasks like video editing and running virtual machines.

Thanks in advance!

I know of no Aspire models that support XEON CPUs… Which model do you actually have? Your full model number is usually on the same sticker as your serial number, it should look something like Axxxx-xxx-xxxx.
