Will band locking be available with future firmware updates for the Predator Connect X7?

Currently, the manual mode for the Predator Connect X7 seems to do nothing. If it needs custom firmware to have this working like other brands, then the option for manual should not be shown in my opinion.

Will band locking be available with future firmware updates?

It keeps switching between 4g and 5g whilst I want it to stay locked to the 5g bands.

I was also looking for the answer on that question. Is there any progress?

I haven't received any news regarding this subject. I just did the latest module version update but can't see that anything has changed. Would be nice to get a response on this!

There are no Acer employees here. If you want some information directly from Acer you will have to contact them. I'm not sure, but my guess is they just rebrand these and it's the Acer marketing department that sets the specs, not engineers.

There are ACER employees BUT they are not allowed to answer technical questions, at least not by PM, (which I tried).

Aha I see. So weird that they ask you to ask the question on the forums first but can't answer the question here. I have now emailed them with the same question.

At least I got a response that they aren't allowed to answer, vs wait patiently (learned from being a parent), indefinitely…

So, it turns out band locking is somewhat available since the router has separate 4G/5G modes. By selecting 5G SA (Stand Alone), it won’t try to connect to 4G. However, if your provider doesn’t have 5G SA set up on the antenna, you’re out of luck... which is exactly my situation.

Oddly enough, a Zyxel router included with the new Odido "Klik & Klaar" package seems to hold a 5G signal more consistently. I’m guessing the provider might optimize their network for their own routers or something similar.

Now, I have a few options to consider:

    1. Stick with 4G/5G NSA, though the band-switching can cause lag in gaming.
    2. Lock it to 4G only, which seems like a waste given the router’s 5G capability.
    3. Try to live with the band switching.

It’s a tough call since 4G gives me about 80 Mbps while 5G can hit 390 Mbps, so there’s a noticeable difference. What would you guys recommend?
