I doing a clean install of Windows 11 to a new 500GB SSD using the Windows Media Creation tool from a USB drive, but the laptop keeps shutting down randomly.
It takes several attempts for it to boot from the USB drive due to the device shutting down while it's still "thinking" (whirling circle!). On one occasion the install got as far as installing updates at which point the installer said it had to restart, but the laptop shut down.

Can anybody suggest what is going on, or better still offer a solution.

We need to determine whether it is a hardware or software issue..   Turn off the computer.   Tap f2 while turning on the computer.   It will go to bios.   Please stay on the bios screen for 30 mins to 1 hour. If the computer is restarting in bios then it is a hardware issue. If the computer is not restarting in bios then it is a software or operating system issue. We need to isolate the issue.

If the computer is restarting in bios, then it might be the problem with charger, battery, hdd, motherboard. You might have to take the computer to local tech or contact Acer Service Center if the laptop is still under warranty.

If the computer is not restarting in bios then it is a software issue. While installing windows using usb remove all the partitions, make it like a one single unallocated space then install windows.

It has shutdown randomly while I was in Bios in the past. I will try your experiment and revert.
I did remove all the partitions for the install.

    Thanks for the advice.

Yes, it shut down from bios after about 20 minutes.

I had a problem about a month ago when the laptop would shutdown instead of restarting. I thought I solved that by returning the power settings to factory default. While I have been trying to do this install, the laptop is set to never sleep.
